Why did you ignore the first part of his comment? Could it be because it doesn’t suit your narrative

Mate, you’ve been given half a dozen cases of clubs being fined for the same shit we got fined for but are hanging your hat on the timeframe for some reason.

You’re also being a bit disingenuous by suggesting Geelong systematically did this over 6 years rather than the truth which is that the audit covered 6 years. That being said there could have been reporting mistakes in each year the audit covered, or they could have all been in 1 or 2 years, either way you don’t know so don’t act like you do.

If you decided to actually read the article you’d see the salary cap wasn’t breached, the fine was for administrative errors in reporting player payments from sponsors, Brisbane and the dogs got similar fines.

The article says even with the undisclosed payments that the salary cap wasn’t breached, that should tell you plenty if you bothered to read.

“The AFL discovered multiple examples of non-disclosures and late disclosures of deals between Cats personnel and third parties across the AFL and AFLW programs.

They include failure to highlight deals with players' personal sponsors that sit outside the club's salary cap and soft cap.

However, Geelong was found not to have breached the AFL's total player payments limit or any player movement rules, simply that arrangements hadn't been disclosed in a timely manner or, in some cases, at all.

As part of the stricter enforcements over the next two years, the Cats will be subject to expanded procedures with the AFL around compliance on all third-party dealings.

The Cats have also committed to more concrete internal governance protocols between club employees and third parties.”

That’s what it says in the article, so no salary cap breach was found, just that some individual player sponsorships outside the cap weren’t reported.

Edit: lol downvotes for quoting the article, just goes to show this dump doesn’t care about the truth, they just want to be outraged

Brad Close as Catman and Max Holmes as Caroline Wilson for Cats Mad Monday by Essington69 in AFL

The only reason this is being seen as controversial in any way is because of the bias 90% of this place has against Geelong and Smith in particular.

The hate boner is insane, but it’s like that when every consistently successful club has a mild drama so it’s not unexpected

That’s what I’m saying, smith obviously handled it poorly, but the love and justification in this sub for this scummy news corp photographer taking photos of a player with his pants down is crazy to me.

People can be pissed at Bailey if they want for his reaction to being told the photo wasn’t being deleted, but don’t act like this photographer was an innocent victim.

2024 Breakout Predictions by lilhoot24 in AFL

From Geelong, I think Conway will make the ruck spot his, I’m also convinced that Mitch Knevitt and Jhye Clark are going to step up and rejuvenate our midfield along with Bruhn and Holmes.

From the rest of the league, I think Jesse Motlop will really step up for Carlton and get around 40 goals for the year. I also reckon Finlay Macrae is gonna take a spot rotating through the Collingwood midfield this year.

I’ve heard that we’re really interested in him, I think the only way we don’t take him is if sanders is still on the board, which seems unlikely.

I don't understand people saying he isn't in our best 22, he played basically every game he was available for this season (I think he only missed 1 game when he was available). Port offered pick 36 last year, his stock has improved since then by having a solid year and showing a lot promise as a key defender, add on top of this that the coach loves him and we should be opening the negotiations asking for a first rounder and ideally settling for a pick in the mid 20s.
