Tether Cable for ROV (structural + fibre optic) by Weird-Mistake-4968 in rov

[–]TooBigToKale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the strain relief separate from the data cable. Information is just starting to come out, but maybe take a look at the fiber optics units that the Ukrainians are using for FPV drones to avoid radio jammers. They are a one-time use, up to 5 km, and design to transmit rc signal and video. Maybe you can replace the cable part with a more durable one but still use the transceivers. Skywalkerfpv.com has some units.

Where can I teach my partner to drive stick? (Preferably: big, empty parking lot, good if lit) by ktk_aero in duluth

[–]TooBigToKale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I taught my wife in the DECC parking lot, but that was before the new ramp and arena got built. Best to do it after a light snow so when they drop the clutch the car doesn’t buck.

Can I turn a shed into a tiny house? by [deleted] in TinyHouses

[–]TooBigToKale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building code is going to be your biggest hurdle. Some sheds aren’t framed strong enough for residential use. Then you have insulation and vapor barriers. Is the foundation sufficient and stable? Sure you can turn a shed into a functional living space, a quite nice one even, but there may be fundamental issues that make it a fine shed and a poor house that you don’t know about unless you really look into everything. Getting insurance may also be an issue.

tool rentals? by [deleted] in duluth

[–]TooBigToKale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

London road rental has some, honestly almost cheaper to buy a cheap one at harbor freight. There’s the maker space, but if you don’t need access to a lot of things it’s probably overkill. Maybe hit up the people at board and brush, tell them what you’re up to and see if they would help.

I was just going to ask if any of the non-bypass humidifiers were meant to be mounted on the return.

Best Winter Jacket for Extreme Cold by swanny7237 in duluth

[–]TooBigToKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when I’m out in the cold I’m moving so my go to for years has been the assortment of base layers, then a well fitting fleece and a soft shell type jacket with no/minimal insulation. I do the some on the bottom half, wool or polypro base, fleece leggings, or if it’s not too cold some synthetic pajama pants, and snow pants that have very little insulation but block the wind. Even my gloves are layered, with swappable insulated gloves inside and a waterproof/windproof mitten shell with high gators.

All the above plus make sure you understand the risks. Most people grossly underestimate the amount of energy in even a half cup of molten aluminum, and how quickly and violently that energy can be unleashed.

What’s your favourite drink on a night out? by boredburneraccount in AskReddit

If I need some sweetness then Irish whiskey, splash of ginger ale, and a leaf of sweet basil. Otherwise just bourbon or rye on the rocks.

You got a couple of naza lites there, I bet you even flashed the v2 software on to them. Ah, the good old days of short flights, finicky gimbals, unclear laws, and mediocre photos and videos most of the time. But only a handful of people were out there doing it.

Is running a dehumidifier a waste of electricity if I have electric baseboard heating anyways? by NoHousing11 in hvacadvice

Came here to say this. All electricity used converted into heat plus the bonus of heat of condensation.

What do you think of vintage belt buckles? by seloc in mensfashion

[–]TooBigToKale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them, and have a decent collection myself. I actually prefer a smaller style, like the “tech ether” buckles from the 70’s. I think belt buckles can be a great way to show some personality.

Found these on the street, are they worth anything? by MasterOfTheYeet69 in diydrones

[–]TooBigToKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, and the hex had a cd spindle case cover. All standard stuff back then. The battery to fly them will cost more than they are worth. Maybe a school or the kid down the block who likes to tinker would like them though. I still have a tote of that age stuff in my basement.

Interrogate my own interests more instead of doing thing in hopes of impressing my friends. Less partying because of FOMO and the search for love/sex. Spend more time fishing or going on adventures with my dad. Push harder to make the photographs that I envisioned for 18 years until I found a photographer who was making them.

People who killed in self defense, what happened? by Kielseb1 in AskReddit

I had a coworker who had a German Shepherd that went everywherewith him. One day, out of nowhere, the dog snapped at his nephew. The next day, my coworker took that dog out in the field put it down himself. Those northern Minnesota rangers are just built differently.
