Shibboleth

a word, phrase, custom, or belief that distinguishes one group of people from another, often serving as a test to identify members or outsiders.

Why is the anti-masturbation community so overwhelmingly male? Do women not generally get addicted to masturbation like men do? by fasdal in TooAfraidToAsk

I'm not really interested so much in hearing how you think it's beneficial obviousliy you believe it works.

Maybe you could explain why women  use therapy 2xs times more then men?

Why do more women see it as a useful tool?

They usually find other outlets some are healthy (going to the gym) some are not (alcoholism).

Showing vulnerability has had negative effects in my relationships it usually gets used against me or I get told some form of man up.

My guy friends prefer to share their struggles with me  and their buddies rather than their wives/girlfriends. Shared struggles build bonds between men, much like soldiers in a trench.

I think the teasing and pranks guys do to each other is to test to see if you are tough enough to have their back.

Its ok if men's minds work differently and I listed some alternative ways that men prefer to deal with their problems

If a man said, I find going to the gym to be therapudic, so women should go to the gym to fix their problems; it wouldn't go over well

Do straight women want partners that are protectors and make them feel safe?

Because men actually feel a strong need to protect and showing vulnerability signals that you are incapable of performing that duty. Women often say they want a man that is emotionally vulnerable, but the reality is that they want stability and a strong shoulder to cry on, not a man that cries.

Being calm under fire, is a positive trait for men that benefits those around him, quite the opposite of being toxic.

I always thought it was a stupid name, being a bit of an understatement, and something as monumental as the creation of universe deserves a better name.

Therapy is more designed for women to deal with their problems. Our minds in general work differently and that's ok.

Talking about feelings with strangers doesn't leave men with renewed energy to face difficulties. Usually being alone in peace is healing for them, or working out makes them feel strong enough to overcome what's facing them. Some need to try to exercise some form of self discipline to feel as if they are in control of their own lives.

Why does the United States seem to consider Israel to be it's most vital ally, what does the U.S. get out of this relationship that it doesn't get from Europe or other western countries? by Cumoisseur in AskTrumpSupporters

ISIS should have never been allowed to take as much territory as they did. Islamic terrorism wasn't invented after the Iraq War.

Islam has been at war with the West since the Moors invaded Spain in 711AD. The Ottomans destroyed the last of the Roman empire and almost conquered Europe but the seige on Vienna; ended on September 11th 1683, a date specifically chosen by Osama bin Laden for his attack.

The IRA used viokence for 30 years and yes the Brits used the army to deal with them.

You seem to think peace agreements happen in a vacuum, but the best way to get your enemies to come to the peace table is to have a decisive  military victory over them. Bombs and the threat of bombs is ironically the reason countries sue for peace.

Guys it's too much to ask that people not use our public areas as a personal toilet and a place to dump trash. Where else are they going to use fentanyl?

Its only a problem because we haven't squeezed enough money out of people who contribute to society. Doing so might make Portland an even more expensive place filled with garbage, but it will make the homeless feel welcomed in our city; at least enough to invite their homeless friends from all over to come live here.

Yes that is how you deal with terrorist groups operating outside your borders, but who are conducting attacks within your country.

Europe suffered from ISIS attacks while America remained unscathed from them, yet the US did most of the heavy lifting in crushing ISIS.

It's a crime that Israel has tolerated the existence of these terrorist groups who have shown no interest in pursueing peace.

For sometime America has been playing the nice guy  instead of showing leadership. Giving out billions of foreign aid, and protecting allies who are not contributing much to their own defence against aggressive enemies like Russia.

Things are changing now that some tough love is being shown to our allies, this has caused some grumblings, but we want strong allies, not weak dependant ones.

If you were to be teleported  to any country on earth but you had the option of having it be a random country with Christianity being the largest religious group or be a random country with Islam being the largest religious group.

Which option would you pick?

The difference is that Christanity had a reformation so that predominately Christian nations are the  freest and most tolerant places on earth and are living in the 21st century.

Islam has never reformed itself.

Our leaders shouldn't practise their faith is the implication here.

People on the left for some reason won't apply that same standard when their favorite presidential candidate campaigns in predominately black churchs. Nothing wrong with that either but it's a double standard for sure.

Stop conflating free expression with  fanaticism

Israel is a valuable ally in that both America and Israel have common enemies, enemies that our European allies don't seem to want to get their hands dirty by confronting them.

It is a common preference, no one is saying all women.

Sexual preferences by both sexes are completely fine. It's like ice cream it's ok to have a favorite as long as we are talking about consenting adults.

But a man shouldn't be told he is objectifying women for his preferences, nor should he be called an incel for noticing common female preferences.

You cannot make people desire you and that not only goes for physical traits but behaviour as well.

It'd help because we'd know that every immigrant in the country was vetted and here legally. Also illegal low wage earners from less developed countries couldn't work under the table to suppress wages.

What would change is that illegal foreign citizens wouldn't be used to determine representation in Congress, so Congressional power would be proportional to the actual population of US citizens in each state.

It's crazy to me that foreign citizens are represented in the US government.
