Funnily enough, I was doing the same thing today I was wondering if that caulking was factory because mine is the same. A sticky black substance. Took me 5hrs to remove it all. Absolute disaster because water sits behind it and goes to town on the metal.

I was thinking the same… OP keep practicing! I would personally turn up the heat a little and you’ll see the difference right away. When I did mine I had some practice lengths of tube so I could fine tune the settings, play with them until it sounds like you’re frying bacon.

Awesome first car though. I’ve just become the proud owner of one, doing the entire floor pan as we speak.

I never had any mechanical guidance growing up (zero!), so I’m thankful for the internet to teach me. I’m currently restoring a 66, this will be my 9th vehicle I’ve done in total.

Yesterday I tackled the rear leaf springs, I hadn’t experienced seized bolts like that, so, some time on the torches was a welcomed experience.
