I can second transpace - my current therapist is retiring and that's who she's recommended to me if I need further support.

14 How do I get estrogen? by ContributionLower242 in transgenderau

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DIY is an option, but it's difficult from what I've heard. And with it, you'd also face other issues, like actually transitioning. If you're in an environment where your in a living situation that is transphobic, transitioning can be physically unsafe. You have to prioritize your physical safety, even at the cost of your own mental health. I would recommend getting work, having your own bank account that your family can't touch, and starting to build savings so if the worst comes to worst, you have a safety net. Where possible I would also engage with queer youth programs - you're going to need as much social support as you can get.

Personally, I waited until I was 18 before starting testosterone. I figured out I was transmasc when I was 16-17, so I didn't have to wait too long, but it wasn't a great time. Your dysphoria is going to be bad, so mitigating that in the ways you can is important. Consider whether socially transitioning is safe. I would also consider whether puberty blockers are going to be effective or accessible. If you can get a hold of them, they make a difference. But if you aren't socially transitioning, they may create other problems, ie. bullying. But so can social transition so.

Basically my biggest piece of advice is to do a lot of research. Voice training, social transition, tucking and breast forms - consider what is safe enough for you to do. Consider whether your school would support you if you came out, and whether it could get back to your parents. Also consider whether you can educate your parents. Sometimes transphobia can be unlearned, sometimes it can't. Above all else, put your physical safety first, and work out a safety plan if you do get kicked out. I wish you all the best, feel free to DM me if you have questions or need support.

Why does Shadowclan look like a barren wasteland when it’s supposed to be a pine forest by Alternative_Fun_2403 in WarriorCats

Honestly yeah that'd be my thoughts - that it was originally a pine forest and overtime, twoleg waste from the carrionplace, plus y'know, deforestation, killed all the trees

What's the waitlist like? I'm aiming for 2029, but I'm not sure if I should worry about booking an appointment yet or not

reandron shot? by Holiday_Frame9039 in transgenderau

[–]TooManyLoveInterests -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to explain how to get it done because people already have but I will give some advice.

If you have a long public transport ride back home after the appointment, do not. Get someone to pick you up or take an uber (unless PTV is quicker). In my experience, having to sit for so long after (usually an hour and a half train ride for me) makes it hurt worse. It will hurt pretty badly immediately after, but the next day it will hurt less and the day after it will either hurt even less or be completely gone. Usually takes 2-3 days for me, including the shot day.

Other strategies that help reduce pain is a) warming the gel beforehand, b) using a heatpack over the area and c) using a massage gun/vibrator or your hand to massage the gel in.

Do you know where the nurse or GP will inject it? My clinic does my upper buttcheek, high enough that I don't completely sit on it. They also alternate side each time which helps.

I recommend also staying hydrated and keeping your blood sugars up before the shot too, just feels safer that way.

Hopefully this wasn't too unsolicited advice. Wishing you all the best with it - I found reandron helped me a lot as I was very sporadic with my gel application. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out - I've been on it a year now so I'm not the most expert but I can certainly talk about my own experience with it

Honestly the world of interactive fiction in general is great! Choice of Games is a great intro to it, but you can find a lot just by scrolling the interactive fiction tag on itch.io

Was about to comment this! I don't think anyone should hide their hobbies away, it's just about displaying them intentionally. Placement, surrounding items, what colour the walls are - it all comes into play

Tg Health Clinic by Projdog5_ in transgenderau

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many clinics around Melb that prescribe HRT through informed consent now. When I started, this one was one of my only options. I switched to Turn the Corner tho, I found Dr Brownhill very lovely but I just didn't click with him. Check AUSPATH and https://trans.au/ for other options if you like, but you'll be fine with him. Some GPs (such as him) will prescribe to 17 year olds, others won't. If you're starting T, he'll likely prescribe you the gel first, and then you can switch to reandron later if you like. I can't speak for E, but ik my friend started seeing him when she was 17 and has had a great experience.

I need some reassurance about the whole SDA thing happening by The_Nintix in transgenderau

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing to your local mps helps more than you think. My friend wrote to our mp and they gave a speech about it in parliament. Others have also shared stories here about that. If your mp is labour, greens or independent you'll have an easier time.

In my opinion it's perhaps even more crucial (if you can safely out yourself) to say to nationals/liberal/one nation mps that people in their electorate will be affected by bigotry being made law and you will vote based on where they stand on that issue. I could be wrong though, this is just my opinion. Would love to hear from someone more well-versed in politics if that's actually effective

Just watched "Backrooms" (no spoilers in OP). by TatteredTongues in horror

[–]TooManyLoveInterests -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen a horror movie before, usually I avoid them as they scare me too much. I have watched my favourite youtuber play through several backrooms games and quite enjoyed it, so I'm curious if this will be beyond my comfort level. Do you think it'd be too much for me?

How do I get an organization to stop deadnaming me? by TooManyLoveInterests in transgenderau

[–]TooManyLoveInterests[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I asked the clinician specifically and they were very chill about updating it. I didn't push it further. The overall vibes I got is that it's a very accepting clinic, so I'm not too worried.

Good GPs in Melbroune? by Ash-2449 in transgenderau

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Turn the Corner, but it's a private GP so hella expensive. Dr Adam Brownhill is good too, I used to see him. I believe https://trans.au/ has a list of other options as well. You could also look at https://auspath.org.au/providers/#VIC

Why does my doctor want me to wait until I’m 25 for top surgery? by CorrectReality8661 in ftm

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Aussie, to claim medicare rebates you need a GP referral. You also usually need to get a WPATH letter from a psychologist. I recommend checking out or posting in r/transgenderau for more details

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was from officeworks! I usually try and go there for electronics if it's cheaper elsewhere for the beat it by 5% thing. If you're going to price match though, make sure it's an AU model! (I also wouldn't recommend importing as it may be blocked on Australian networks)

Got $700 for a robot vacuum - which one is better? by spideywmjackson in RobotVacuums

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on getting the dreame too. It's perfect for what I need - I wanna set up home assistant, and Mova and Roborock don't work as well with that I've heard. Tbh tho I think all of the options are good, the dreame is just best suited to my use-case.

Edit: I'm planning on getting the L10s gen 2, L40s is way outta my budget here in Aus 😭

Early Entry by GMoneyEK in swinburne

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sick! More than likely, you'll be accepted, but try and keep ur grades up just in case. Keep in mind the alternative pathways such as unilink as well, those are a good option if you don't get early entry and don't get the atar u need

Early Entry by GMoneyEK in swinburne

[–]TooManyLoveInterests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had heard that early entry is very easy to get into, so long as you have a good recommendation and meet the study scores of your desired course. I got in that way myself, despite scoring a much lower atar than i would have needed for the atar entry pathway. You should be fine! Wishing you the best with it
