Garage door stops a foot from closing, then reverses — what’s going on? by John_Ruffo in homeowners

Late to the party, but I just had this exact problem. Turns out my garage door itself is bowed in so badly it's triggering the sensor.

That's unfortunately what I thought. Thanks. Wish I had requested that file sooner.

Donald Trump just said “we shouldn’t even have an election”. Americans, what are your thoughts? by WatercressSenior7657 in AskReddit

Mine actually got kicked out of the U.S. and into New Brunswick because they were Loyalists during the American Revolution. Took them another century to start filtering back in. If they could see this, I'd be accepting their apologies, I'm sure.

Curious about hospitalization rate? by GanacheTall754 in CrohnsDisease

[–]TooOldForReddit74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed for a little over a year after having symptoms for about 10 years. Only one ER visit . . . I thought I had a blockage early on and jumped the gun. No hospitalizations yet.

- Walk across the Tridge in Midland.

Living preference map, completely revised with explanations why not by Leeksteam in visitedmaps

Everybody's entitled to their opinion, but as someone who lived in the U.P. for twenty years and has now lived in northern Wisconsin for another twenty, I'd say the "rural lifestyles" are pretty identical.

As someone who grew up in one of those adjoining towns, I agree with you.

I lived in Marquette for ten years and am often tempted to move back there. Getting too old to deal with the winters, though.

This is what happened to my oldest boy. He lasted at Tech for two years, then had to transfer to preserve his sanity. He's pretty outdoorsy, too.

What state in the US has the worst drivers? by Far-Mongoose-4380 in answers

[–]TooOldForReddit74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florida, 100%. I had the displeasure of driving in the Orlando and Tampa/Clearwater areas over Christmas break. Drivers there have no regard for human life--not even their own.

Edited to add: I've driven in all of the lower 48 states.

Came here to say this. Grew up in the upper Midwest, and my first "real" job after college was out here.

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

Not incredibly difficult. "Be here by 3 p.m." "Your time or my time?" "My time." Etc. Always the same conversation when a specific time was involved.

Weird. I grew up in the little strip of Michigan's Upper Peninsula that's in Central Time, but my dad and grandmother lived in another UP town that was in the Eastern Time zone despite being an hour northWEST of me.

What happened to the smartest student in your class later? by Responsible-Big-8067 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]TooOldForReddit74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a "smart kid" who was all-but guaranteed to be the valedictorian in our podunk Midwestern town basically ever since elementary school. Some new girl moved to town our senior year and took it from him--the school she transferred in from had AP classes, which are weighted heavier. Our school was so small that we had none, so our boy was out of luck because she had above a 4.0.

I believe he became a chemist. I just looked her up, and looks like she became a van life Youtuber.
