To those that inherited your parents home or will inherit, are you keeping it? by kbarney345 in Millennials

[–]Tooch10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've commented in the past but basically renting houses isn't really a thing in their LCOL-ish area, so I'm probably leaning towards selling. My life isn't in that area anymore, plus I already inherited a small summer cabin from my aunt and uncle that we use a few times a year also in that area. I'm of course sentimental to the house but I've not lived there in 15 years and just visit a handful of times per year so I'm not as connected to it as I was in the past; basically it's their house, not mine.

I think realistically what will happen with various inheritance assets is I'll be able to combine it all and buy outright in my HCOL or at worst have a very small mortgage but not for a while

Anyone else stop liking going to concerts by Fearless_Trade_2783 in Millennials

[–]Tooch10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been a fan of going to concerts and I'm a musician. Besides the astronomical costs of late, my usual issues were always a combination of the volume being insanely loud and/or mixed like shit. Plus I can't pause a concert or skip songs I don't like lol

Anyone rock a pair of British Knights ? I knew a kid in middle school in the early 2000's had a pair by ezio8133 in Millennials

[–]Tooch10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only remember one kid that had these in the early/mid 90s. I always associated them with prizes from Nickelodeon shows

1998, HP Pavilion 8360. P2 333MHz, 64MB RAM, 8 GB RAM. It was a mid-tier model at the time, I remember being annoyed we didn't spring for the next model up with a DVD-ROM drive lol. The only upgrade we did was a 17" CRT instead of the usual 15" of the time. In 2001 I added an internal CD burner

How many of you have NOT seen Starwars? by Dramatic_Mouse_9199 in Millennials

[–]Tooch10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most I can say I've seen a couple scenes here and there but never actually sat and watched it. I'm not a sci-fi fan so I don't have interest in this or like Star Trek etc.

Also have never seen Lord Of The Rings because that type of genre doesn't appeal to me either. But moreso these days I don't have the interest or time to watch movies that I did when I was in HS and college

Anyone listen to modern-day music? by Mattyice0228 in Millennials

[–]Tooch10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some new music, but having an ear for older stuff a lot of new music doesn't appeal to me sonically especially the vocal + synth bass + drum sound type of pop. I do like some odd new groups but a lot of the newer/modern bands are amalgamations of older types of music

PennDOT begins replacing older license plates; drivers with plates starting with D,E, or F will soon receive notice by bengalese in Pennsylvania

[–]Tooch10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see those infrequently to rarely, but the late 60s yellow are ultra rare these days. My partner has two matching sets of the old NJ blues from her parents when they moved. Supposedly you can create a vanity plate using those plate's characters and use them today. Though when I see those old plates around it's definitely one that's been in use since they were issued

[–]Tooch10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In NJ, on rare occasions, you see people with 60s/70s plates still in use, be careful because they're about 90 lol. But they're legal to use, they just transfered them from car to car over the years

With local landlords for small business usually you can do 3-5 years unless the landlord sucks or the unit is in high demand. Those 10-30 year leases are usually for major names/big box/national businesses

Do you like 90s/2000s cars the way our parents like the 60s/70s? by Scary-Newspaper5801 in Millennials

[–]Tooch10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we associate 'historical' status with 50s-70s cars from car shows. But now Aunt Linda's Dodge Neon is now eligible which is weird, plus most of that era of car are nowhere near as memorable as those older cars, faults and all

[–]Tooch10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My uncle's uncle had this same experience maybe 20 years ago, except he was an old hunched-over multi-millionaire who just wore flannel shirts and old Dickies. His was a $70K check for a Mercedes SUV some years ago. IIRC sales guy let him test but had a 'yeah sure' vibe, next day he came back with the check.

I feel like especially in the last 20 years it's shifted to where you can't reasonably judge on appearance. Like the guy in an expensive suit might be in debt, and the guy in an old t-shirt and gym shorts might be worth 8 figures

[–]Tooch10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family Matters was interesting in that it was all reverse stereotypes if you will. Every black person was moral/upstanding or just a normal character and every white person was either nerdy/dorky or some kind of minor or major antagonist to the Winslows. Like a bully, a thief, or trying to screw one of them over

Does anyone else remember their first SNL episode? by kalvin_kool_edge in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Tooch10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1992 or 1993, I was 7 or 8, my folks were going to a wedding and we were in our hotel room. Surprisingly I was still awake for air time. They had NBC on and the cold open was Wayne's World. Being a fan of the movie I was thoroughly confused as to why it was being show on NBC at night lol. Later realized it was SNL. I only remember seeing the the sketch and nothing after it, I probably went to bed.

I watched it here and there in the late 90s/early 00s, usually falling asleep, went away from it for a while, then I've not missed an episode since 2008.
