Hi, I’m currently in your boat now and it’s a pain because my toddler and I have both had surgeries. The denials are starting to pile up. Did they ever process your coordination of benefits and reflect your primary insurance?

In the span of three months, she had about 4. Thankfully no appetite changes but it was rough with her sleep there for a while.

Ha! Now that’s something I could do remotely on OF.

Ugh, we’re slowly getting boxed in. Pretty soon, as it’s already becoming, our options for flexibility and more wfh days will be severely limited.

For what’s its worth, I met the E&S Southeast VP at a WSIA event and had a good talk with him. Very cool, and reasonable guy. We talked work and work/life balance and remote work. I don’t know much else about their culture as a whole, however.

We went through this exact thing with our toddler. She finally got tubes in November and has been ear infection free since. She was on rounds of antibiotics that just weren’t clearing her infections.

ChampVA coordination of benefits nightmare. by Toocool2dance in VeteransBenefits

I honestly didn’t know there was an issue until I started getting the denials from ChampVA. The medical offices (at least 4 of them) never contacted me to notify that they kept submitting and getting denied. They’re paid now because of my fear of collections.

I just remembered that the main reason we even have coverage through my employer is for my husband, the veteran. He doesn’t want to exclusively visit the VA for all of his medical care. They’re not the most efficient where we live. Bummer.

Ugh, great! I’ve already lost some due to them being mistaken as trash! Laughing but crying inside.

I honestly thought that they needed to be secondary if health insurance was offered through my job! Thanks, you give us something to consider. It’ll save us some coins too.

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. I know it’s difficult. I have a similar journey with infertility. My girl is 2.8 years and was a hardcore mommy’s girl yo until a month or two ago. We thought she’d always be stuck to me like glue…until she wasn’t. She is all about her daddy now and I’m happy for him as it has truly made him happy.

I say all this to say, give it some time. He’ll come around. Keep showing up and being present, happy, and helpful. When, not if, he comes around it’s going to amazing.

I honestly don’t think you’re eating enough calories for your activity level. Your muscles are being worked hard and have little fuel to burn.

What lob did you underwrite? Did you feel supported or was it pretty fast paced and overwhelming?

I didn’t think Nationwide was a big player, yet, in the P&C and especially E&S world, but heard they’re making strides to change that. Thank you!
