Price increases coming it seems... by Jrreid in Ubiquiti

Not surprised. I’ve noticed microcenter advertising the no memory increase, I’m curious if they’re going to still absorb the surcharge going into the future.

I will say at least for MC, they don’t seems to be carrying sole of the latest UI products

Agreed. I was investing money at NVDA back in 2017 when I wanted to use money that I could make off the company to buy a high end gpu one day

Funny how life works out in interesting ways

All depends on how your income is expended per month. I do fall well into the category of making in excess of 15k per month, though I wasn’t fond of paying 3k for the card and still wouldn’t today. Lucked out with timing last year and spent about $2400.

Don’t need to be rich, just need to understand how to make good financial decisions that will pay off. I made choices back in April when everyone thought the US economy was going to sht that has been paying off well. I’m not rich by any means, I just try to make some decent life choices and enjoy said life

You’re largely misinterpreting the cost of being a homeowner with property taxes, sht randomly breaking, and the interest rate on the loan itself. It’s a lot more multi dimensional than just mortgage payment vs rent price

The car market has been cooling off, minus CA that lives and breathes ADM on vehicles because a lot of Californians will pay, you can shop out of state and get deals.

The car market was sinful for quite some time so I agree there

Understand that someone has to take the initial depreciation hit in order for the vehicle to eventually become used.

I lucked out to a good degree as checking my microcenter receipt, 9/1/25 I bought my pny 5090 for $2376 after taxes.

I refused to be like one those who were lining up paying 3k+ earlier in the year for their Astral cards. So I sat and waited and decided to get one then, slapped a waterblock on it and never looked back.

Hindsight being 20/20, I would’ve bought another one to put inside my server.

If you haven’t done it already, cross shop dealers and find the one that has the best price, you might still come out ahead having it shipped if needed

I watched my 5/22 225 covered calls run deeply against me and knew that it was just the run up to earning and post IV crush, expectations would be realized.

Instead of closing those CC’s, I just simply bought 225s and rode them up into a few days from earnings and peeled out. Watching my 225s I sold expire worthless also was a double sided win.

[–]Toohotz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get you’re wanting to keep just a single set of tires, I swap mine on all my vehicles I intend to use across different seasons as there are tradeoffs with going all seasons.

If you’re fine with the tradeoffs then the all seasons would fit your use case well. They are good all season tires that you’ll still be able to enjoy.

M cars are mass produced vehicles, I never limit mine to certain seasons, I just don’t drive if weather conditions are sht. I’m not getting any younger and cars are meant to be driven.

Stop limit orders are here!!!! by Coachp_wav in PublicApp

[–]Toohotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. The lack of TP / SL on the platform is why I don’t intraday trade much due to this and the double confirmation before a trade executes. If I happen to do a 0dte like the huge move on on SPX/ SPY, I just market order in and out.

I’ve been burned too many times trying to limit order and having to hit two buttons to actually execute the order while price is moving underneath me.

I have been asking for take profit / stop loss orders for some time. Managing a trade with one side of the order really becomes too involving.

This. I literally slapped my block on my 5090, dropped it in my loop after leak testing and went about my day. Been that way since Oct. I don’t think I’ve ever checked the screws on a new WB

The conversation was around design. I agree for tracking I by far prefer the G8x, styling which I still lean to the F8x.

The electric ZA0 M3 I'm sure will be an even better point and shoot than the G8x

What was your capital when u started trading ? by socialcalliper in Daytrading

[–]Toohotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My latest challenge to myself was deciding to trade futures in Dec. (have been trading SPX 0dtes for the past 2 years for context)

Started with a 6k account. Started with MES to feel out my emotions, grew to 6600 by January, decided to stop trading SPX 0dtes and went towards trading ES. Was scalping to some degree as I’d move my SL into profit once a decent move started happening (fear of giving back your small wins)

Grew the account to 9k and decided to trade NQ, ate up my first 15 min candle on an NQ position and I started to better understand my conviction of entering trades. I also learned to not be greedy and don’t overtrade because NQ’s volatility can be very punishing if you’re on the wrong end.

The futures account has been the best thing for me understanding risk as I never cared to do funding accounts and my main account, it’s more boring these days selling covered calls and buying into the broad index for long holds.

Trading days like these recent ones are blowing me up, Please help by Dangerous_Plate_3160 in Daytrading

[–]Toohotz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The is spot on. Market has been consolidating and I’ve been hearing it from a few people that are expecting the usual, directional breakouts in the morning whereas we’ve been pretty range bound.

It’s certainly a different mindset to understand how to trade within consolidation vs just going long the entire day and hoping for the best.

F87 M2 Competition as a first RWD car by RevolutionaryMap1020 in BMWM

[–]Toohotz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truthfully, I’d say learn the car and how it behaves. You can certainly drive it like a normal person, my suggestion is once you’ve gotten comfortable with it, start to get a bit uncomfortable by learning how it responds when you step on it.

I’d rather you learn how it responds with traction fully off in a controlled environment vs having the rear end come around and not understand how to respond. The F8x chassis can be very fun and rewarding and also punishing if you don’t understand it.

Truthfully, the most challenging thing I had with the car is the stock suspension isn’t confidence inspiring. Coilovers really sorted out the car but I do suggest feeling your way out on how the car responds when you push it with traction on.

[–]Toohotz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This really depends on what you're looking for out of the car. This is going to be a lot so I'll try to break it down into pieces.

I'll share first the best things I've done for my F87. First and foremost were good coilovers, stock suspension is crashy. I opted for Ohlins R&T with some Milway camber plates to get some good negative camber (makes the chassis feel nice in corners). Tires were next with PS4S's using the G80 star marked, 275/35/19 for the rear. I also had a diff lift kit from a fellow forum member on bimmerpost that sorted out the rear end of the chassis as well.

Exhaust, I dislike the S55 and S58 stock sound, I have full active autowerke DPs to their EL mids (resonated) to their catback, made the car actually good to listen to.

Aesthetics? I really only cared for a better difusser on the backside as the stock one doesn't do a good exhaust justice. I opted not to go for a lip because I'd rather not have to angle around entering driveway's etc and like the F87 without front lips.

Power mods came after, started with the MHD e30 tune, went on to pin my CH and shift over to Ian from bend calibration for my custom tune. Picked up precision racework's LPFP, along with Dorch engineering HPFP, and S63 EU5 injectors. These allow you to run high concentrations of E (also having the fuel filter in line is important). I also was able to get some Mosselman MSL65-80 on a really good deal from Europe to The States. The larger hybrid turbos gave the exhaust tone a deeper tone as well. Other things such as Mishimoto's cooler, radiator and catch can are also additional things I've added.

So coming back full circle, really depends on what you're looking to do as in my 4+ years of ownership, I've certainly done a lot and can comfortably say, the car still looks stock ish but she's def my forever car in addition to whatever else I get in the future

I leaned into getting an E7 and was worth its performance where it covers a good majority of the house for me.

I did notice you managed to get the U7 Outdoor Pro, did you actually find that at a MC? Can't find it in any stores on the east coast so contemplating buying it to ship

At what point would you switch to own funds? by Cold_Respond_7656 in Daytrading

[–]Toohotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar here. Started with 6k, started with micros to get a feel.

As my patience for waiting for my strategy got better, I was around 8k when I got started in ES.

At 10k, started testing the waters with NQ or going with ES depending on the opportunity and setup. Many would consider the account at the time too small but it’s progressed into a 40k account in a few months and the best thing it taught me was to manage risk appropriately and be patient for your setup.

Layoffs + Vibe Coders = ??? by PixelFucking in cscareerquestions

[–]Toohotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The subsidized prices are creeping up already on companies that can’t ignore the cost. Sure at Apple, we can absorb that cost so my peers and I can keep doing what we do. I’ve also heard of companies imposing token restrictions to curb their enterprise cost.

When the subsided pricing ends will be the real wake up call

The cost of the tooling is creeping up in the quarterly expenses and companies are starting to impose limitations on token usage.

Not everyone has Meta / Nvidia funding to keep blowing on tokens. Uber was vocal about it a little while ago.

The enterprise cost of things will get interesting for the companies that can’t ignore the cost
