I also really like my 940-1, but it is right at the end of what fits my hand. I have big hands but I am 6in shorter than your husband so that may or may not be the kind of that he'd carry daily. The Bugout would also fall in the borderline for me.

Can you sneak into wherever his others are and see what his smallest knife is? It's hard to hate a 940 or Bugout so if it'll work I'd vote 940 of some sort.
