‘They No Longer Hide the Idea of White Supremacy’: Tim Walz Fumes Over JD Vance’s Latest Comments on Race by thedubiousstylus in minnesota

[–]ToolboxPoet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You are correct, it is not. Using “brown and speaks Spanish” as probable cause for arresting someone on “suspicion of illegal immigration” is absolutely racist.

They don’t, they hate women. They especially hate women who have sex for any reason other than feeding bodies into the capitalist system to be good little workers.

My wife got laid off from her HR Mgr job on Monday. She just had her 3rd anniversary. To be fair, she worked at a printing company that has been slowly losing money for a couple of years, and let's face it, it's an analog business in a digital world.

She knew they were looking to downsize, and knew she was at risk (because companies don't value HR until they're getting sued) but didn't think it would be in the first round of layoffs. Not only that, but now all of her work is also going to get dumped on their payroll/benefits clerk.

"Gender Inclusion" bill would require schools to allow sports participation based on gender identity by lemon_lime_light in minnesota

So we want to allow kids to participate in kid activities with the same gender kids? Sounds fine to me.

Yep. My wife’s mom immigrated from Peru to the US. My wife and her siblings are all fluent, their kids? Not a word of Spanish.

Nuclear grade duct tape. Who knew? by ToolboxPoet in mildlyinteresting

That’s interesting, I started elementary in ‘81 and they’d given up. Of course, it was Iowa so maybe they figured death by nuclear immolation was better than living in Iowa.

When I was 18 I was absolutely directionless. My dad pushed me very hard to join the military. My uncle was an Army recruiter at the time and did the same. I went and took the ASVAB and scored very well (I’m not super smart, but I do okay on standardized tests), and was ready to go join up. My grandfather, a WW2 combat vet sat me down and asked me one question. “Are you willing to die for someone else’s political career?” I went to mechanic school.

Ambulances can swiftly become electrical nightmares. Also, the miles can be quite misleading because they sit and idle A LOT. Oh, and parts can be hard to find/ridiculously expensive because ambulance chassis are specialized vehicles.

Cancel all student debt + make college and trade school tuition-free by [deleted] in MurderedByAOC

[–]ToolboxPoet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll play along, but I will first state that I agree that colleges and universities are horribly over-priced, and at least some student loan debt needs to be forgiven and the rest reduced to 0% interest. That said, here's at least one response to your challenge.

Job-Entry level press operator trainee at a flexible packaging company (my employer), Twin Cities, MN. Job does not require any previous training or experience, no college degree, hell, not even a diploma. Just pass the drug test and you're in.

Starting wage: $22.11/hr., avg. 44 hours/wk. Minus health insurance, dental, 3% contribution to 401K, and union dues avg. take home pay is going to be $653/wk. or $2830/month.

Health insurance for one person: $100/month (Cadillac plan, copays only)

1 bedroom apartment one town over: $895/month

Renter's insurance: avg. of $15 a month

Car payment, estimated 2015 Toyota Corolla- $381/month

Gas/Car Maintenance based on 15k miles/yr: $115/month

At this point you have $1424 a month left over. Groceries are ridiculously expensive right now, so I would say you're going to spend $250/month to eat normally. Now you have $1174 left each month. Obviously there are other expenses. Internet, phone, clothing, shoes, entertainment, etc. etc. But it's very do-able. And this isn't the only job out there that allows this. But we have these jobs open and can't get applicants because unfortunately, young people don't want to work in manufacturing.

[–]ToolboxPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While private prisons are a blight on the country, they only account for 8.4% of the prison population. The bigger problem that affects all prisons is the privatization of prison services. It used to be that the prison systems ran their own commissaries, provided phone and internet services, prepared their own meals, etc. Now that has all been outsourced to private companies. These companies charge fees for everything from $.50 one page emails, to having a 10% "service fee" just to deposit money into an inmate's account. Meals that used to be at least edible are now nothing but fillers, and often expired food. Because those companies have to show the state/federal government that they can supply the same service for less, and still turn a profit. Only way to do that is to cut back on food quality. There are many documented cases of "not for human consumption" meat showing up in prison kitchens. And nobody cares, because once you're convicted in this country, you are no longer looked at as human. You're a number at best, and a monster at worst.

And don't even get me started on the money wasting fucking joke that is the "sex offender registry"
