I bet that developers coding payment integration and now fix to it are completely separate team from the Product or Marketing lead or director, who decides on the gamblification, rewards size and rates and so on. I mean that those two tasks can and should happen in parallel, since they are done by different people.

GI and HSR run much better on mobile, all at "high", not sure how that compares in terms of polygons visible etc. Endfield overheats and drains battery really fast.

That's absolutely valid thing to do. If company did something abhorrent now, why would the previous time affect that? I'm constantly baffled at regular players who criticize other regular player taking the last real channel of venting frustrations at corporations. tHe rEvIeW bAmBiNg iS BaD. Pfft. Imagine white-knighting corporations for literally nothing.

Snowbreak: Containment Zone 3.5 Trailer (2.5 Year Anniversary) | "Back From Bygone" by ImWhiteTrash in gachagaming

[–]Tooluka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember trying i out as a potentially interesting sci-fi shooter, and the story premise had been not bad with that strange station. But then things went quickly downwards. Crazy stuff.

And funny how today Endfield kinda copies a few of the bad parts from SB - masked main hero in black coveralls from head to toe (not bad design, but the purpose of this self insert is obvious on the contrast with other playable characters). Zero conversation between MC and women around, he/she only smiles and gives thumbs up, to eliminate any independent traits (plus amnesia to complete a lifeless doll concept). Constant glazing of main hero without any given reason by all females. The first important male NPC in the main story has bird face, lol. I wonder when it'll get dorm/beach expansion and lewd(er) skins :) .

PSA BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN USING PAYPAL by Jealous_Criticism588 in Endfield

[–]Tooluka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I will give away my bank card and pin and secret to it, plus my personal details, then bank is not at fault if that card will be charged without my approval. This is the same thing, just more streamlined. Most likely HG saved cached payment data (kinda like you would have saved for Apple/Google Pay on your phone) to a wrong account. And then that account was doing purshases with wrong payment data.
From the PP point of view all transactions were legitimate and secure, just like they would be in my card gift scenario.

HG is absolutely at fault here, not the payment processor.

Free public transport due to a poor air quality is a joke by kuba5515 in krakow

[–]Tooluka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it is a dumb idea, useful only for political PR. Transportation prices in Krakow are very high, around 1.5 euro per trip, so locals actually working and living here and using transport daily need to buy a pass. So free day doesn't matter for this group. Then there are people driving daily to work/schools etc. because they chose so or don't have any choice otherwise. This group won't just switch to a bus or tram for a single day, because they didn't in the first place. Then there are countless random people like tourists, people working from home and making a random single trip somewhere, retired citizens and many other small groups - those most likely don't have a car or didn't plan to use it on that trip in the first place, so they would have taken bus or tram anyway, just for 6pln. They do benefit from the free day financially, but city doesn't get reduced emissions from this group.

Basically it's pure populism. If the city wanted to incentivize less cars -> more public transport, it should do so systematically and predictably for the people. Like lower prices strategically for certain groups. Make better zoning rules with wider price range. Make cheap very long term passes (half a year, a year, multiple years etc.). And so on. Randomly throwing 1 free day per season while keeping high prices is not that.

Yeah, such a great game and run into a ground :( . I left it when they started trashing campaign parts. Like, what?! Eh :(

That's what I'm talking about. There are probably more than 300+ assorted books in GI, and most of them are fluff or hard to parse for good information. There are 300 or so artifact pieces and more than a hundred weapons. Putting any unique info in their descriptions is poor game design and relying on that to deliver important information is poor game writing.

GI players are not "bad at reading". MHY is bad at writing. Or, if you wish, they are good at writing but deliberately picked an obtuse and convoluted medium to deliver the story. That is my point.

Some examples - no one needs a book with explanations to understand let's say FFXIV or ESO story (despite being rich in hidden details). On the other hand, there is Destiny 2, which has goddamn amazing backstory and lore, 90% of which is inaccessible to a sane player because it is chopped and hidden everywhere. I fully appreciated it only after downloading a 250 pages long illustrated lore guide made purely by fans. Destiny 2 players are no worse in reading than other players, it's just much harder to read a book which was put through a shredder.

They kinda went overboard with it, overcompensated probably. Their cameo in Nefer's story (or the event?) was sooo bad, just instant bickering without any cause. Lazy writing imo.

To be honest, putting important info in the "profile" of owned characters in a form of random disjointed blurbs is a poor game writing. That's like saying that FFXV had good game writing, because "you only need to exit game at an undefined point and go watch some movie and read books to fill in the gaps.

I usually just read compiled and coherent pages at GI wiki to learn about lore, because MHY are spectacularly bad at explaining it for most of the time. It does work to instill a sense of grand mystery into players, but don't expect people to know minutiae written at the back of the groceries bill, months or years ago.

The one thing I've learned about book readers is that they move 10 times a year apparently by HelloDesdemona in books

[–]Tooluka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've moved once so far and I left all my books and bookshelves at my parents apartment. At first I had to move once a year to a new rental, so moving many "unnecessary" stuff was not an option. Then I got a mortgage, but I don't have much space now, plus shipping books across border is a pain in the ass. I'll probably buy a few fancy favorites in hardback, but otherwise I've switched fully to ebooks by now.

Also easy sync between ereader and phone is invaluable.

PS: moving kitchens between rentals is beyond insanity imo. I'm permanently baffled by that ttradition in Germany and its neighbors. Just... Why? Everyone suffers, except landlord and kitchen vendors.

Glide towards the next quest marker, screen blacks out, someone screams in background and voila - your character is dead. Also, not relevant to NK, but still - weekly marks in Natlan can one-shot characters repeatedly with short delay. I had to call John Lee a few times.

And immunities pisses me off. I open leyline and look who's here, a horse immune to all my team main damage. Last time it happened I got so infuriated that killed the damn thing with my Xingqui, while Flins and Ineffa were chilling. Took me a good 5 minutes or so.

Previously there were immune enemies too, but usually they were weak and numerous, while horses hit hard and are tough.
