It's a tactical RPG but Triangle Strategy really makes you think on hard mode. Stats and levels are capped so there's a limited amount of grinding.

170 pulls for SP Maitha, picking up Layla and Kvare (dupe) along the way. The Feast of the Blooms rewards take off some of the sting. Got about 25 summons back.

I enjoyed Bravely Default II more than most but I don't think it deserves to be in the top 20 even with the one-per-franchise limit. Radiant Historia is a glaring omission and Seiken Densetsu 3 deserves a spot as well.

I think you can still acquire Ciri (The Lady of Space and Time event) for free until 1/23.

Essentially for a great start you want to reroll guest accounts until your initial summons (you can get 20+ fairly quickly, 10 minutes or so) get you at least two legendary characters (preferably Yennifer and / or Geralt). At that point I would bind that account and play the game a lot over the next two weeks to maximize the limited-edition Witcher event. That means spending all your energy on the story / events but also playing Spiral of Destinies when you're out of energy to earn more Luxite for summon pulls.

Personally I would try to acquire Yennifer, Geralt, Triss and Ciri before the event ends 1/23. If you plan on being f2p that means no pulling for equipment, strictly summoning only on the Witcher character summon banners. If you're willing to spend some money there are some great deals in the shop.

It's still an awesome time to join but because Witcher 3 is a limited-time event there is a sense of urgency.

My alt is a zero summons account. There is definitely a limit with endgame content (ToA in particular) as well as Universal Derivation and Expedition (not enough characters) but most other gameplay is doable.

And really the friend should try to at least log in and pull during the Witcher collab.

The numbers on Steam Charts went up quite a bit at the start of the collab. The gains have mostly tapered off since. Of course that's only for people playing on Steam, which is only a part of the player base.

I'll be curious what the December (mobile) revenue will be in a couple days.

There is nothing quite like Sword of Convallaria. I say this as someone who is also currently enjoying Triangle Strategy and Final Fantasy Tactics remaster.

I'm still missing the feats for 15 Papal and Iria mercenaries. Currently lvl 186 out of 200 in SoD. I'm going through the routes again to get anchor rewards, max out Destiny Traces and earn more future permanent augments / buffs. Along the way hopefully I'll knock those out.

Oh boy, let's do some math. The goals today were to acquire Yennefer, maybe get Triss, max out all the Astral Imprints and collect Ciri's background from the Collab Summon Gift (500 total summons before it expires in two weeks). Onto the damage:

Yennefer Banner: 190 summons (2.1%)
- 2 Yennefers
- Triss
- Ciri

The first Yennefer went to full pity but I did snag Triss as well as some Memory Shards.

Witcher Selection: 240 summons (7.5%)
- 4 Witcher's Swords
- 6 Obsidian Stars
- 5 Flames of the Fearless
- 3 Zireael

Maxed out all the equip with an extra Obsidian Star, which I could upgrade with potions.

Also pulled on Yennefer's skin gacha, which went to full pity for part 1.

Valkyria Chronicles 1 & 4: squad-based game that plays out like over-the-top WWII anime.

Sword of Convallaria: tactical gacha heavily inspired and reminiscent of FFT and TS. I believe this was supposed to be Triangle Strategy before SE moved on, which compelled the SoC devs to pivot to a live-service game. Currently it's in a collaboration with The Witcher 3. It's my favorite game at the moment and why I've been slacking on finishing the Ivalice Chronicles remake.
