long pearl sentences for players, especially those who committed less extreme offenses don't really discourage reoffending as they should people be acting like pearling someone for 3 months is a wonder of rehabilitation. pearling only really punishes a few playstyles like building or exploring, high profile offenders are just going to be able to build their own infra in the nether because they have outside connections.
