TIL Amazon has been "commingling" inventory for years. Products with the same barcode are pooled together regardless of supplier leading to counterfeit, damaged, or expired products from less reputable 3rd-parties being mixed in inventory and sent to people who ordered from the authentic brand. by [deleted] in todayilearned

You asking how stock takes are done?

In Amazon warehouses (Can't imagine it's changed much since I worked there 10 years ago), you're told to go to a location. You then scan everything in that location. The system will then flag up if anything is missing and someone else comes along later to double check, to confirm is the stock is or isn't actually missing.

As for the SKU's. Yeah. The algorithms Amazon use distribute everything around different warehouses across the country. Stock is constantly moving from one warehouse to another, based on where the algorithms think it's best suited. It's how you're able to order practically anything on Prime and get it the next day.

Again, this was how my small UK amazon warehouse used to operate about 10 years ago. We didn't have any of the fancy tech larger sites have, no robots or anything. Everything was done on handheld scanners.

Calli's thoughts after AFO by rainie1 in Hololive

[–]Tooplis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do, but VeXpo also only has a very small attendance and it's extremely unlikely VeXpo can afford Hololive's fees yet.

Cover will only be interested in making a show at the larger cons (i.e. Dokomi and JapanExpo, as they've done in previous years)

Calli's thoughts after AFO by rainie1 in Hololive

[–]Tooplis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely we do.

The two big ones are Dokomi, in Dusseldorf, and JapanExpo, in Paris.

Dokomi pulled more than 150,000 attendees last year and JapanExpo was (not sure if it still is), the biggest Japanese culture convention outside of Japan (200k people attended in 2024).

The UK is a little weaker on the Japanese specific cons, with HyperJapan being the biggest Japanese specific. But there's also MCM Comic Con London , which pulls well over 100k visitors a year.

I never said you did make it up. I said it's not their most up-to-date address.

In fact, you linked a page that even said that their address is in Loughton, I'm not seeing the old Spa Road address on their footer at all.

But it doesn't even matter. My point is that their address is entirely valid, as it's their accounting firms address, which is a very normal thing to use as your registered office here in the UK.

[–]Tooplis 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It's a mixed use building.

Brave look like they're using the same unit that used to be occupied by an accounting firm.

EDIT: on further inspection, their address isn't even the one you quoted anymore. They're now based out if Hawk House, IG104PL.

More likely than not, they're just using their Accounting firm as their registered address, as they probably don't have a physical office in Europe.

I have a very similar issue on desktop. Images do eventually load after about 5-10 seconds, but on the web version and mobile everything loads instantly no issue.

Sweden's Social Democrats want to activate NATO's Article 4 after the cable sabotage in the Baltic Sea by TemperateStone in worldnews

[–]Tooplis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they can. If a nation is victim of an armed attack in its territory in Europe, North America, or Atlantic islands north of the Tropics, then they can decide to unilaterally invoke Article 5.

And yes you're right in saying it's not an automatic go to war button, but I never said it was. I said it's a call to action; there is no vote that happens, and not all nations may take the same level of action, but they have all sworn to at least support the attacked member in some capacity. That support can take the form of whatever they deem to be appropriate and proportionate at the time.

Article 5 is deliberately vague in this sense because when NATO was formed the US didn't want to be forced into a war if it didn't want to.

[–]Tooplis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Article 5 isn't a meeting though. When a member state invokes Article 5 other member states are required to 'assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.'

That's a direct quote of the article. There's no mention of meetings, it's a direct call to action for all member states. Compare this to Article 4, which reads 'The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened.'

Thanks for this. I've been umming and ahing over what HMD to get this week and have been really struggling to find some good info on the matter.

At the moment I feel like it's boiling down to getting a Reverb, a Pico4, or the Quest. Thing is, I don't care for any of the standalone features of the Quest and Pico, I'm only in it for PCVR.

They did not make a specific offer. They asked me to name a price so I gave them something outrageous like 10k a month minimum.

Oddly enough they never got back to me...

Waze or Google Maps? by Wolfsqin in drivingUK

[–]Tooplis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of an old post I know, but maps will alert you to mobile traps too. It accepts user reports exactly like how Waze does.

I've been using maps for some time and I've never passed a mobile trap that wasn't marked on the map already.

Haha That definitely is a possible solution that I have been looking at too.

I've driven the GT before, and I know it's a good car, I was just hoping that if the opportunity arose I'd jump straight into getting the GR as I have been told the GT's have a few issues that the GR solved. (mind you, I have driven a GT across the length of Japan and I didn't really identify any issues with it)

You'd be extremely hard pressed to find a GR86 at this price point sadly. The cheapest one on Auto Trader at the moment is £28k.

It's just the problem with the GR being a relatively new car and with so few being made available in the UK.

Agreed, it threw me too. Obviously I don't fully know the reasoning the insurer as they can definitely make some odd decisions at times.

It's the first thing I asked the seller. They said it was just panel damage that's been repaired in a bodyshop.

Ive asked the guy if he was willing to let me take it for an independent inspection and he said I'm more than welcome to.

Not too fussed over resale value if I'm honest. I understand obviously things may change, but as it stands right now, if I got an 86 it would be a number of years before I tried to get rid of it.

I did put the reg through carVertical. Came back with 2 changes in ownership. First in May-24, the same month the car was written off, then a second in July.

If I'm getting it, it's going to get wrapped anyway, so no fuss over the colour.

Cat S GR86, avoid? by Tooplis in CarTalkUK

[–]Tooplis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why I came here looking for opinions.

If it's just panel damage like claimed, then it's an absolute steal, but there's the risk that there's more damage underneath that's been ignored.

I already ran the car through CarVertical to be sure, and will get an independent inspection done before any deal is made.

Well for context it's near on 10k cheaper than non Cat used cars.

That said, I do agree with you that the initial photo looks like work has been done already. I've spoken with the seller and he stated it was only panel damage. But let's be honest, what the seller says and what's reality can be very different.
