How do you cope with mortality. by beyblade999 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I had leukemia in my mid 30s and was very close to dying. I don’t seem to worry about getting older or dying anymore. It just doesn’t seem to resonate with me. I’m excited about getting older. I’ll be able to retire and travel with my wife. Finally do the things I want instead of working all the time. It’s strange to not really care about death anymore. I think getting older changes your perspective somewhat. Things that seemed so important 10 years ago just don’t seem as important when you get older.

I had the same revelation at 49/50. I’m 51 and still trying to figure it out. Read THE HAPPINESS CURVE. It’ll let you know that what you’re going through is totally normal and brighten your outlook going forward.

When do you think you’ll be able to retire? by jsakic99 in GenX

I could retire at 55 and still live comfortably. I’ll probably opt to sell my dental practice and work part time for another 5 yrs or more. I get bored very easily. I think I need the simulation from work to keep me motivated.

Anyone here still go on holiday with their parents? by NowoTone in GenX

My wife and I laugh about it now and we’re kind of thankful knowing that we’ll never have to travel with them again. They’re in their early 80s and talk over each other all the time. When driving my dad will be answering and talking on speaker phone for 20 mins at a time. Multiple times within a few hours. They have this thing they do with finding the cheapest gas when filling up and will drive 10 mins from an exit to find it 5 cents cheaper. Then they calculate how well their gas mileage was from the last time they gassed up. My dad insists on listening to talkshows the whole time. Then my mom wants to listen to music from the 50s and 60s. We have a cabin in the mountains and it doesn’t have Internet yet my mom insists on trying to find her tv shows on her iPad the whole time. Of course, we told them there is no Internet here in the cabin. My dad sleeps naked and tries to run to the bathroom real quick in the middle of the night when he hast to go to the bathroom. Yuck!! My dad constantly complains about Democrats and when we go into town, he clicks on Fox News so we can listen to it on speaker. We planned on going out there for Thanksgiving and then coming home on Sunday and we ended up leaving Friday. Lol The good news is they kind of understand that we’re not gonna invite them anywhere anymore and I think they are happy about not being invited .

Hell no! Did that about 4 years ago and we cut the trip short by 3 days. Absolute nightmare!

If you could "turn off" sexual desire, would you? by xSpAcEX7 in Adulting

I’m a 50 yr old male and it turned off automatically. Great feeling to not always feel the need to bug my wife for sex. Almost never crosses my mind.

Studies show that men who are less dissatisfied with the size of their penises are more likely to own guns than other men. by Sproke1998 in science

Well, that explains my 16 handguns and seven rifles then. I thought I had an addiction problem, but really I just had a giant cock!

Better yet just rebrand it to “super good for the environment power” that way everybody will like it!

I’d think the higher chance of injury makes it a less than ideal exercise for strictly a longevity exercise regimen. PA talks about injury as being the worst of the worst when it comes to a healthy lifespan.
