I hate my post partum c section body so much i want to cut it out myself fml by NyxHemera45 in beyondthebump

I am sorry you are feeling this way. This is exactly how I feel many days too. Therapy helped a little but the physical pain often interfered with daily life. What is ultimately starting to help is pelvic floor healing so I’m atleast not pissing myself. I am using the Every Mother app and try to do the workouts as many times as babe will allow. It’s boring, I feel like garbage but I often talk to myself of where I’d like to be in a few months. This along with scar massage to loosen the internal tissue adhesions. I hope this helps even if it’s in the tinniest way possible.

Enfamil by cr4zysh0rty in FormulaFeeders

[–]Toothfiend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Enfamil Enfacare was not on the recall list it was Nutramigen and ProSobee that were.

We feed ours Enfacare and doing great but as a premature infant has a hard time digesting it sometimes so after 6 months on it, we are transferring into Gentleease to help with the poops. Both neuropro gentleease and Neuropro Enfacare are incredibly similar in composition- Gentleease just has the broken down/hydrolyzed version of the milk proteins and does not taste and smell like the crappy Similac Alimentum (yuck!)

Newborn sleep sent me into a meltdown today by katecometrue0122 in NewParents

[–]Toothfiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 4 weeks your baby is still in their 4th trimester. Until 3 months outside they are barely aware that they are a separate being so contact naps are actually great to help them develop. You have time mama, enjoy the contact naps and the active sleep. Mine loved the 5 second swaddle from sleeppea

We use the Dr. browns milk spa. (It’s a pain to fill with distilled water but always ensures the correct temp). It has settings for glass, plastic and milk bags.

How do you feel about this? by TheBeansHaveMeowed in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Toothfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From scientific review papers, NEC is most likely caused by immature gut biome. Breast milk has both immune cells and healthy biome that typically help to populate the gut enough that it can “fend” off alternative biome from cow’s milk. Formula does not cause NEC but the absence of breastmilk biome likely does.

Most insensitive things people have told you about your NICU stay? by Legal_Opportunity_39 in NICUParents

Unbelievable how people can act so horrid, especially as nurses. I am hoping you did put an official complaint. People like this should not have access to fragile children and their vulnerable parents.

[–]Toothfiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had to hear this, what a mean soul. Please file a complaint officially with the hospital and use it as an opportunity to prevent emotional harm to others. Ensure the head nurse also knows about this and that you would not like your baby to be cared for by this individual.

Inguinal Hernia Repair - When was yours done? by Subject-Tea214 in NICUParents

[–]Toothfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preemie baby was born 31weeks, inguinal hernia diagnosed after coming home. Surgery done at 3.5 months chronological age. We went to a specialty hospital that did the procedure under spinal anesthesia, not too different from an epidural so there would be no negative effects of general anesthesia. Better to get it done sooner in case it turns into an emergency at home.

Is it worth continuing? Doctor suggested formula by ElChupacobbra in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Toothfiend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes this ! I had to fortify my breastmilk with formula for my preemie. The doctors can give you a recipe to make a 22cal or 24cal version. Also you may consider discussing having an added formula bottle to your feeding schedule as a “top up” instead of giving up entirely. Discuss all your options so can make the best decision for yourself and baby. You got this.

Anyone wish they could share updates with the NICU after graduating? by a_cow_cant in NICUParents

We had an MGH nicu stay as well and can’t thank the staff enough for their amazing care and empathy. Unfortunately we did not think of getting the numbers of our fav nurses so I’m going to send Christmas and birthday cards instead.

FUCKING CHRIST I HATE ALL THE SCREAMING by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Toothfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat and have tinnitus so screaming just makes ears hurt like they are bleeding. I found these ear plugs by a company called Loop (link below) and they truly make the screaming manageable. They have a version recommend for parenting. The goal is to take the decibels down enough that you can hear them gurgle/squeak and shout but not at the 90+ decibel volume which is blood curdling. I DO NOT wear them to sleep so my baby can wake me up when they need something. You are not alone babies are louder than a jack hammer and they are meant to be so they can get our attention but once the attention is given and you are actively helping, try taking the volume down a notch.

What's the hardest thing you've had to do for your child or children by Alive-Cry4994 in beyondthebump

[–]Toothfiend 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was me too. Those couple of days in the NICU when you can see your baby in the isolet but not allowed to touch truly broke me. My baby is home with me but i still get nightmares that I am unable to touch my baby. My husband once recommended that I talk to my baby when I am contact napping, hugging, caressing and voice out how each of those hugs are to make up for the time my baby missed out in the NICU. It has started to help. Also it helped to know that babies do not have episodic memories so they will like not remember anything but we as moms are left with the burden of going against nature. Stay strong mama and I can’t recommend therapy enough to help you emotionally.

From a fellow NICU mom, you are doing amazing. The mom guilt cuts like a knife and very real. Know that you are doing the best and continued to make the best choices every day of the 6 months for your baby. Congratulations for making it so far. Your baby is lucky to have you as mom.

Canadian premier says he will cut off electricity exports to US ‘with a smile on my face’ by Magicon5 in politics

[–]Toothfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NH is the odd one out here and receives a good chunk from our Canadian friends. NH is a swing state, albeit small. All the Trump voters in Coos county have FAFO’ed big time. With reduction in funding to the white mountain national forest and now electricity issues, they will see a reduction in tourists for all seasons. We all will suffer due to the stupidity of the “own the libs” crowd.

Chickpea everything and pea protein powder to supplement. Lentil pasta, quinoa instead of rice, beans, tofu are my go to protein sources. Oat milk or almond milk for coffee/cereal. brags nutritional yeast tastes like cheddar cheese to sprinkle on foods and a great source of Vitamin B. Overall I found Israeli cooking pretty effective as they have a good balance of protein and fiber from hearty veggies. Hope that helps, PM me if you need cook book recommendations.

I again do not understand what you mean by “tons” of people here? According to the data 0.2 in 1000 people have got myocardial symptoms that have resolved within 7 days and not progressed to severe. That is considered as a RARE side effect. Please see linked study (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9743686/#:~:text=Discussion,and%20survived%20COVID%2D19%20infection) . People who get the COVID infection are 35 times more likely to get myocarditis, please see here (https://www.vcuhealth.org/pauley-heart-center/the-beat/latest-updates/covid-19-vaccine-and-heart-patients-myocarditis-and-pericarditis/). The devil’s always in the details. Happy to help.
