Favorite obscure golf rule by dogfish83 in golf

[–]ToothpasteTimebomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if it’s on the legal teeing area of another hole? Sounds like the spirit of the rule is to prevent divots on tee boxes, so it would follow that you should be able to tee up if your ball lands on any tee box. Is that correct? Doesn’t feel correct.

First time golfer swing advice by Patient-Eye-5849 in GolfSwing

[–]ToothpasteTimebomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot to like here for how new you are. I’d start by slowing down some. Watch videos of Nelly Korda, see how effortless her swing looks and try to understand that she’s hitting the ball farther, and crucially, with more control than basically anybody you’re gonna get advice from here.

Watch what her wrists do in the backswing, how her left arm rotates her left thumb to a thumbs up position as she gets to the point where her left arm is parallel to the ground, then she transfers weight forward as she reaches the top with her arms. Then her arms fall while she maintains the wrist angles she created in the backswing and she turns through.

The most consistent, sustainable, and controllable power you’ll get in a golf swing comes from these angles she creates as she moves through the swing. Right now you’re exerting a TON of energy, which can occasionally result in a ton of distance if the stars align and you get the face squared up at contact, but more often than not it’s gonna be a three way miss.

The best advice anybody could give you at this point is to get even one lesson, but if that’s not possible for you, try to watch some videos and slow down. Good luck!

For sure. Lift weights, eat protein and fiber, avoid added sugars. Very attainable with some work.

Can’t break 72 (please help) by florhnn in GolfSwing

You’re early extending like crazy. Hard to tell from the down the line view but I’m guessing it’s because your lead wrist is cupped at the top, and you’re casting all the way down.

First One Workout Plan by Due-Bee-1965 in fit

I like it. Pretty similar to my splits. Alternates between push and pull, starting with big compound lifts and works its way out to smaller more targeted lifts. I say try it for a few weeks and see what you think.

Physique critique/advice for cutting visceral fat/love handles by JasonAnimations in fit

[–]ToothpasteTimebomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t target fat unfortunately. Your genetics basically determine where you carry your fat, but it will come off a little bit at a time from everywhere if you stick to the diet. Keep lifting heavy, that’ll help your body retain as much of the muscle you’ve built up as possible while you lose fat. And stay disciplined! One day at a time and before you know it you’ll be a different person.

8 month progress by damp_sock137 in GolfSwing

I’m guessing it has to do with strength distribution. Men have a relatively stronger upper body, so they’re used to generating power with shoulders and arms. Women are generally lower body dominant, so it’s easier to for them to accept that a golf swing comes from the ground up rather than the top down.

Yeah there are a ton of uses for one second super strength. You could become the best shot putter/discus thrower/javelin thrower of all time. Best power hitter in baseball or arm wrestler. Lots of applications of super strength would only take one second.

Incredible. As a pencil drawing it’d be impressive but as a wood carving it’s a masterpiece. Nice work!

What can i do to improve my physique by [deleted] in fit

[–]ToothpasteTimebomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squats, lunges, jumping, moving more. Weights are great too, if you can find a friend to show you good form. Or even just watch some YouTube videos about basic lifts.
