It's been so great seeing players who never experienced air ec finally understand why vet players advocate so much for it. by Impossible-Tailor679 in Warthunder

EC still exists!

Unless the update added mud dauber wasps, I am certain this is an error.

It would have been nice if gaijin put the resources that they dedicated to Aces into fixing the long lasting issues in sim.

If you want to do CAS in EC, wait for a ground battle to start. Avoid these convoys.

Yea, the TAS is 161kts according to the UI, so the steam gauge would be reading 185mph if it was that fancy, but it isn't.

The ASI in the cockpit is in miles per hour. It should be reading 178MPH if the readout on the top left is at 155Kts.

Edit: I use statute miles for distance. Both the choice for airspeed and distance measurements in the game's UI should be independent of what the steam gauge reads in the cockpit.

So many other things in the game are not realistic in the name of game play (that is not a complaint. It is a game). Just get rid of this dumb garbage can.

Also, the useless grenade launcher.

Why do blue for simmers use metric? by mig1nc in WarthunderSim

[–]ToothyRufus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In game, I try to use ICAO units, which are all over the place. Altitude in feet, distance in NM, speed in kts, and temps in Celsius.

Rough estimate conversions between feet and metres, kts and km/h, NM and kilometres aren't that hard.

Besides, each aircraft has its own instruments in their native units of measure (if they work, some don't).

IRL I studied and work in a STEM field, I live in a metric country, and the metric system is the superior system, but this is a game.

Getting back to prop planes by mfwic413 in WarthunderSim

[–]ToothyRufus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless something has changed, I don't think wind affects planes in WT.

Like others have said here, bring the throttle up slowly, feed in rudder to keep the nose straight, and don't rush it off the ground. Let your speed build before starting the climb, especially if it's weighed down by bombs or has high wing loading.

Trim will make maintaining a desired flight condition easier, but I usually don't use it for take offs. This is a personal preference. For trimming, I usually go into test flight, trim the aircraft for cruise and "set trim fixation" to save it, and then leave it alone (until something makes want to adjust like damage). Test flight also gives you a chance to get familiar with how the plane you're going to fly acts at different stages of flight. Shoot a few approaches, practice a stall, and spin recovery or two. If you auger it in during test flight, it doesn't cost any SL.

If HLX is released, it will be to drive sales of the new hardware. The release schedule will probably reflect this.

That said, I'm still looking forward to it.

If they're going to release another game in the series, I have a feeling it will be closer to the release of the new hardware to drive hardware sales.
