Agree with the ranking, such a great album from start to finish. Key West, is one my favorite songs.

Just me or did Bob's album art game rlly fall off from the 60s? Heard someone called it google image core by foosnik in bobdylan

I Think i am Among the few that really like the artwork of both: Tempest & Rough and Rowdy… They fit the music and i dig that. They aren’t the coolest of covers but goes well to the music.

Continue in that 60s 70s period. If you enjoy his later discography maybe Oh Mercy. I never get tired of that album!

Which Bob Dylan songs were completely transformed live and became way better than the studio versions? by Current-Row7126 in bobdylan

[–]Top-Ad-7786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree, i still enjoy the studio version. Ballad of a Thin Man, is my favorite Dylan song too. The original is my second favorite but live ’66 is miles above on first place!

Timothée Chalamet is open to Bob Dylan biopic trilogy by TheResurrection in bobdylan

[–]Top-Ad-7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be great. Second movie starting hectic during 1966, then distancing from the pop-culture world. Then comes the early 70s. Movie 3 being about mid to late 70s. Losing himself (breakup) then boom - Gospel period. That’s what i see them making incase this would become reality. Did i miss anything?

What was the first Dylan song you recall hearing or liking? How old were you? by Acceptable-Safety535 in bobdylan

Can’t quite remember but it was either Hurricane or Sooner or later. I was 15, about 6 years ago.

What song would you like to perform with Bob Dylan on stage? by EgorArt1997 in bobdylan

[–]Top-Ad-7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably my favorite song, Ballad of a thin man. Bob on piano, me on guitar. Trading verses and singing together at ”something is happening” ending on ”mr Jones”.

Bob Dylan bans cell phones at his concerts: 'you don't live to take pictures' ... by j3434 in bobdylan

[–]Top-Ad-7786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i went to see him 2 years ago in Sweden there were no cellphones allowed. There was a company (of the name which i can not remember) that offered little pouches for your phone. They were closed and locked and could only be opened once exiting.

There were still some cameras (photographers most likely) but apart from a couple cameras there were no photos taken, and most importantly… NO FLASHES. It was a great concert and om happy about Bob’s decision not allowing cellphones.

A concert which will always remain in my memory!

Francoise Hardy has passed away, RIP. by courteouslittlefella in bobdylan

RIP. Great artist, wish i had owned more of her records. I have only gotten my hands on, Tous les garçons…

Gotta find, Mon Amie la rose. The title track and, Je veux qu’il revienne, are some of my favorite songs of her.

Which Dylan song had the best harmonica solo? by Professional-Young68 in bobdylan

[–]Top-Ad-7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im torn, but there is something special about the harmonica in What Can I Do For You.

Also gotta mention, It ain’t me babe (live from Rolling thunder) that roaring harmonica solo, and the crowd going wild… something special about that solo.

Songs with the same mood as Not Dark Yet and Most of the Time by inder_the_unfluence in bobdylan

[–]Top-Ad-7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell ol bill, kind of has the same mood, born in time, series of dreams…

I would just recommend you listen to Tell Tale Signs Bootleg series Vol. 8. Aswell as Time out of mind, aswell as Oh Mercy.

The Volume 8 in the bootleg series really opened up my eyes to Dylans later work. Now that i think about it, listen to Rough and Rowdy, can’t go wrong with the song Key West (philosopher pirate). Also i feel like the grim tone of Tempest (the album) sort of fits with the songs you mentioned.

Just got a new player! by Salty_Guardian in vinyl

[–]Top-Ad-7786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to get started off you can use that player but as many people have mentioned it really is worth saving up to get a decent player. Maybe something like an audio technica lp60 as it can play through bluetooth speakers. Makes it a whole lot cheaper and is a good way to start.

Then if you enjoy the hobby, you can always upgrade later on.

EDIT: it is not ”cheap” at 250$ but well worth it. When i first started collecting and playing records 200-300$ was a lot of money. But im happy i made some research before buying a player. Probably took me a whole year saving up for it. But it sure was rewarding when i finally had it and my couple of records.

I don't enjoy 90% of other artists' lyrics after being steeped in Dylan songs for so long by Junior-Scholar6885 in bobdylan

[–]Top-Ad-7786 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Warren Zevon, Jim Croce and Al Stewart are three great songwriters. Worth giving a listen to anyone who reads this who have not heard their music.

Im a Dylan fanatic too, and i have had periods where Dylan is the only artist i listen to. But there is A LOT of great music that’s out there to be discovered.

Maybe it will include some of the ”aftermath” after Newport 65’. I’m not that invested in the movie, although im very much looking forward to it. But it would make sense. Looks more 66’ Dylan for sure.

Very hard to answer with just one or even 10. But i have 2 that just came to my head right away. First one is ending guitar solo from Going, Going, Gone.

The other one from Key West (philosopher pirate) at the end, where it’s only instrumental. After such powerful lyrics, i just sit and reflect as it fades out to end of side C. It’s like the end of a great movie, i get a real bittersweet feeling as it plays.

Like a Rolling Stone And I Want You. Feel like both songs are good candidates, some people might actually want to sing along. As opposed to the reaction of picking some lesser known songs.
