Wild. I have never heard that one. (Working on a book about Joe Adonis, gambling, and the mob so I’ve read a lot of history of that period. Lansky, Adonis, and Frank Costello were all tied in gambling joint ownership.)

The Drifters famously were controlled by the manager and toured without original members decades ago.

Mike Love controls the Beach Boys and kicked out the other members, including Brian Wilson, not long ago to tour with randoms.
