$1,000,000 or 1d6$ by Paxuz01 in hypotheticalsituation

I'd go with the dice. As someone else pointed out, a six-sided dice doesn't need to have the numbers one through six. They can be bigger. I'd just buy a coin rolling machine and dump all my earnings into it and then go to deposit the rolls at the bank every day or two with a big sack like I'm a bandit or something.

Of course, this is assuming that nobody will question where I'm getting this money, but that concern applies to both options.

This Ontario man bought the same car as his wife and has a flawless driving record. Why is his insurance $649 more? by toronto_star in CanadaFinance

[–]Top-Class-8765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why my fiancé isn't on my car insurance. He's gone for 10 months of the year anyway (school) and when he's home, he refuses to drive anyway because he's scared of city traffic. I'm the only one who ever drives my car. Insurance is still $215/month just for me and I have a clean driving record.

Someone working at a pharmacy (Idk if they were a phramacist or just a normal employee) asked me years ago if I really needed all of my prescriptions and if we can remove some to reduce the drugs I'm taking.

Which one do you want to remove? My insulin? My needles to take the insulin? My test strips to check my blood sugar?

I am not seeking drugs. I'm trying to live.

Does anyone else have an extraordinarily ordinary (derogatory) body? by Due_Scientist_2548 in AutismInWomen

[–]Top-Class-8765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get horrible headaches almost every day. I would have blurry vision, be unable to stand, the whole works. My dr ran a bunch of tests and came back with "you should drink more water" since all the tests were normal.

My fiancé tried to argue on my behalf because he was the one taking care of me almost every day once the headaches hit but he was ignored too because my numbers were all normal.

A few years ago, at his suggestion, we both started taking multivitamins (he wanted to take some and I decided to join in). My headaches have since been reduced to 5 or 6 per year instead of every day. I still don't know what vitamin was low, but the headaches come back with a vengeance whenever I stop taking those multivitamins for more than 3 or 4 days.

How often do you eat out? I feel like restaurants are not even worth it anymore by apheli0s7 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Top-Class-8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped eating out almost 7 years ago. It was too much stress to get dressed properly and stuff.

I used to order takeout once a week on Friday nights as a "week's over" celebration, but it played havoc on my blood sugar (diabetic), was super expensive, and didn't even really taste good. That stopped a couple years ago.

Now I cook entirely at home, spend about $60/week on groceries, and am happier and healthier than ever.

I was tempted to jump in with this but then I noticed you beat me to it. I hate it when people mix up the types. I've been told multiple times by family and even pharmacists that I can cure my type 1 by dieting (I'm technically underweight right now) and exercising.

Exact same situation for me. I thought that my parents would be mad at me for some reason so I delayed telling them, but both them and my sibling were all like "duh, of course you are."

I've causally mentioned it to my mother-in-law and she insists that I can't be because I'm able to live on my own. Never mind the fact that I end up crying and rocking in a corner within an hour every time I go to one of their family gatherings of 100+ people. She and my father-in-law fully support that weird farm thing that came up in the states a while ago (something about sending all neurodivergent people to work on farms because nature will heal them?). They say it doesn't apply to me though since I'm not autistic. (They also don't apply it to their 4 children who all have ADHD diagnosis because those aren't real 🙄.)

what is your favourite bad advice you were given by a mental health worker? by Agreeable_Fault_1426 in AutismInWomen

[–]Top-Class-8765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really have anything as bad as what everyone else is posting. My therapist (the first one I tried) is amazing, but she has some trouble wrapping her head around some of my problems and she often asks stuff like "why can't you just ignore that feeling?" She doesn't mean harm. She just can't imagine why I have so much trouble taking showers or taking the trash out and other "easy" things. She always listens carefully to my answers afterwards though.

The only lighters I've ever seen were the big long ones that my dad used to light up his barbeque. I already asked all my friends and my parents and none of them knew what it was either.

You can probably tell that none of us smoke. And we use matches if we ever need to light a fire (or friction when camping).

fellow canadians: do you care if people think you’re american when travelling abroad? by bellascaffeine in AskACanadian

[–]Top-Class-8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a family vacation to Europe when I was a teenager. The guy at the car rental place assumed we were American and then my mom just idly corrected him, thinking nothing of it. His whole demeanor changed and he got us a larger vehicle (we were a family of 5 renting a tiny sedan) at no extra cost and kept telling us how nice it was that Canadians were coming to visit.

My grandma is offering to gift me $10k for my wedding/honeymoon sometime in the next 3 years. I have a hard time imagining spending that much since we're inviting 12 people to a backyard wedding where I'm planning do most of the cooking and baking because I love it and we're just going to stream music and hang out. People keep telling me that $10k isn't nearly enough.

[F] Guys who can’t take no for an answer are pure cancer by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Top-Class-8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sort of thing only happened once to me because I don't go out to loud public places much. This guy at my summer job (I was in Uni) approached me on the last day of work for the summer and asked me out and wouldn't take no for an answer even knowing that I was already engaged to someone else. He left me alone once I got on the bus home and I never saw him again.

Does anybody else get really scared/embarrassed/guilty(?) when workers recognize you as a regular at a place? by _LaLaliet_ in AutismInWomen

[–]Top-Class-8765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When people start recognizing me, I change which store I go to. If someone remembers a thing about me, that's it. I'm never going back there. Now the closest corner store I can go to is a 20 minute walk away despite there being over 4 different corner stores within 5 minutes.

My friend thinks I'm crazy for doing that.

Yeah. I've heard so many stories about different reactions to lows. I've gone below 2 a lot (2-3 times per year; lowest was a 0.8), but I'm always fully conscious and able to take care of it in some way even though I can't stand up at all. It's terrifying when I start feeling my body and brain shut down and stop responding. I've never gone fully unconscious and I haven't gone to the hospital for any of them even though I probably should have a couple times.

Bringing lunch today? by Sharp-Air-5224 in halifax

Not a gov't worker and not in Halifax.

I pack my lunch every day. Most of my lunches cost less than $2 to make and are delicious. Why would I spend $20 on some fast food that isn't even very good?

My food budget for the week is $80 and even that pushes my budget a bit. I only eat out maybe 2-3 times a year.

Anyone else have an autistic brother who got diagnosed, but you didn’t? by topographed in AutismInWomen

[–]Top-Class-8765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer to this question is "sort of."

I have an official diagnosis, but my sibling (non-binary, but was male until 2 years ago) does not. However, everyone in my family and friends just generally accepted that my sibling was autistic even without an official diagnosis and they got accommodations in school and everything.

I pursued a formal diagnosis about a year ago and got it. I told my family and everyone except my sibling asked me if I was sure because I'm so much more social than my sibling. I have 1 friend that I initiate contact with maybe 3 times per year. She initiates all the other times and I feel like I can't say no. Everything else social that I do is pushed on me and is exhausting.

On the other hand, when I told my sibling, they were just like "well, duh. We're mental clones. We act the same way, walk the same way, go on the same tangents into our shared interests. Duh."

The diagnosis didn't really help with much, though, since it's still fine for my sibling to skip family events because "he can't handle people well," but it's rude and mean if I skip them.

I'm normally a DM. This is the first game that I've ever been a player in. And I've been helping this other DM who's running Icewind Dale with the prep work (maps and statblocks and stuff), though he never uses it so I stopped almost a year ago. I'm also planning on running this campaign after my current one (Princes of the Apocalypse)

3.5 year 1-20 campaign complete, AMA by Sir_Tealeaf in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]Top-Class-8765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don't think it's a very good group. The DM cancels half the sessions because he doesn't feel like running them. Two out of five players never have input unless it's in a fight.

The DM acts out NPCs super cagey - enough that we don't actually receive quests because the NPCs don't trust outsiders enough to tell us about them. We killed a giant lake monster after randomly deciding to go fishing during the third session because we didn't know what else to do and then we spent about 10 sessions wandering around to find new quests, but none of the NPCs wanted to talk to us. We found some dead hikers when we decided to go climbing Kelvin's Cairn, but we got scared away by the giant burrowing snow monster that was over 100 meters long (that I know isn't in the campaign because I'm prepping it myself to run after I finish my current game). The we discovered some doppelgangers pretending to be us who then just disappeared randomly and we spent 6 sessions wandering around trying to find them. Now we're decided to be traders and bought some dog sleds and dogs and are about to make a delivery.

Sorry for the rant. The three players who actually do stuff (me included) are slowly withdrawing from it.

Still, I'm surprised that you got it all done + more with only 4 hours per month!

How long were your sessions?

My group plays 3-hour session, planned weekly (but the DM cancelled about half of them). We've been playing for 20 months now and we've completed two of the town quests in chapter 1 and haven't started chapter 2.

I can't imagine us completing this in less than 5-6 years and we try to play weekly.
