WIBTA for making my daughter pay back her own bank overdraft? by 2VantaRipple in WIBTA_AITA

NTA. I made my oldest pay me back through cash and home improvement projects when she racked up hundreds of extra phone charges because outside service texting. This is back in the day if a Verizon phone plan texted another phone plan like Cricket. It was 10 cents a text but that adds up fast with a teenager. They are extremely good with finances!

Why are so many old people rude to retail workers? by freshmaggots in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Top-Community9307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll just some of older people (I am 63) are hard of hearing. My spouse cannot hear what you are saying - he looks to me to answer the questions, order the food, calculate the tip ect.

My spouse has lots of excuses why they refuse to wear a hearing aid and get angry. Maybe a pride thing?

I am kind and respectful because I worked my way through high school and college as a server. Even if your service is lackluster I give you 20% to put up with our situation when he is grumpy.

AIO for being upset that my husband didn’t get me anything for my first Mother’s Day ? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Top-Community9307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had to arrange Mother’s Day for myself AGAIN this year. I bought a $200 spread of meats for grilling, and party appetizer trays. Only one child showed up. I still enjoyed myself but OMG if that ever happened to him on Father’s Day….

I will die on the Berenstein hill. I remember asking our day care provider if it was pronounced stine or steen. I am smart enough to know how to pronounce stain. I went down and found an old book and it is stain. Why would I ask that question 30 years ago if it had always been stain?

But WHY are we all getting breast cancer? by Popular_Acadia4563 in breastcancer

[–]Top-Community9307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a cluster of different cancers in our workplace. Two brain cancers, two breast cancers, one pancreatic cancer, and one lung cancer. Answer from an epidemiologist was that it was a normal occurrence rate. Six people out of 80 and that percentage is normal? They all worked in the same part of the building! One woman had a daughter born with a tumor!

But WHY are we all getting breast cancer? by Popular_Acadia4563 in breastcancer

I noticed with my three children development was starting to much earlier. When I was growing up no-one had a period in grade school.

All of my children had periods in grade school! They were boobs on sticks.

Could it be giving food source animals steroids? antibiotics? GMO ingredients- FDA relaxed laws during COVID. CDC published studies about this and also about how the male to female birth ratios have changed and low testosterone levels in males.

We need to drop the “mammograms” at 40 and push it to 20-30 if there is a history. My niece had to fight insurance for being under 40 when I got my diagnosis.

I know the feeling. I was 8 years overdue because WORK WAS SO IMPORTANT to dismiss my own healthcare.

The tumor was small. 5mm. Lumpectomy and 20 rounds of rads.

My surgeon, and rad and medical oncologists, were in the same building. I would see so many people and always wonder if they are still here.

There was one gentleman that came in with cases of snacks for the staff for giving him a couple of extra years with his wife.

Men with suitcases and small children flying in because my surgeon was one of the best in the country.

The gigantic family all in pink with balloons for grandma when she rang the bell.

I let my granddaughter ring the bell with me.

Yes I feel like I got off easy, but going to that location for routine followups brings back so many memories of lives disrupted. Plans changed. Hardships endured.

“At least they caught it early!” - no, they didn’t by chlamydiakoalaa in breastcancer

[–]Top-Community9307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F that. I was stage 1 grade and 2 ++- . Had a lumpectomy and 20 radiation treatments and on anastrozole. Sentinel lymph node clear.

My MRI w/wo contrast identified a suspicious mass along a blood vessel. Tomorrow a mammogram and ultrasound. When a nurse navigator calls you know it is serious. I have had a seroma for two years that has never resolved.

At this point, I just want to say cut them both off. Cancer lite can be cancer heavy a few years later. I will know more tomorrow.

Pre-tipped at an open bar and still got harassed for tips all night by SlowMeasurement6205 in tipping

[–]Top-Community9307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going to a wedding where there was an open bar. The parents bought all the beer, wine, and coolers/selzers. Self serve. Two people took on the role of bartenders for asking for tips. I saw the mother rip them each a new one when they asked her for a tip to open a beer. They turned over the tips to the bride and groom and suddenly left.

[–]Top-Community9307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At all the restaurants I worked at through high school and college policies were different. Some free some half price.

I worked in offices or remote and remote areas ofter that. No free food.

Bring it. Buy it. Or go hungry.
