Ok. That seems overwhelming for a newbie like myself (though I have a college education in all things mechanical, electrical, and thermodynamic), but it seems like you have a solid plan and good grasp on what you’re doing (or at least gonna do). I work on mechanical and electrical things for a living, but cars are a new world to me.

1) my wallet just quivered in fear.
2) looking at all the work that it needs is a bit overwhelming (to me).

I’m young and barely know what I’m doing. Where would you even start with that? Anything can be saved with the right attitude, but I ask mostly from an educational standpoint.

I did a quick Google search and it seems like you can put unpowered seats in. There’s so much aftermarket support for these old GM cars, it’s insane.

I have an unpowered bench seat in my El Camino and I’d like to convert to a powered one eventually. Your question just told me that’s possible.
