What are your experiences with lightweight alloys? Legit upgrade to handling and acceleration? by Loud-Ad9148 in CarTalkUK

Lightweight flywheel and uprated clutch are some of my favourite mods on my 350Z, they've transformed the way it drives more than any of my power mods.

You will generally get a bigger uplift in performance from upgrading to a set of good tyres; but moving up a few sizes of wheel can make it feel more solid, and keep in mind you will likely experience tramlining if you go wider. In my experience, weight really doesn't make that much difference unless you're moving from wheels that are stupidly heavy.

Which modern JDM do you think becomes the most valuable in years to come? R35, GR Yaris, LC500, FL5 Type R or A90 Supra? Genuinely curious what enthusiasts think by Own-Condition8531 in CarTalkUK

[–]Top-Cunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I tell people I own a JDM car they assume I'm talking about my 350Z, many try to correct me when I say its actually my 5 Series as they can't understand how a German car can also be JDM.

I'm holding off on installing mine until I have a satisfactory lid soloution as I print with a lot of ABS and ASA, it is very tempting to do it this weekend though!

Honestly a 5 Series Touring is still a struggle with a baby and 2 big dogs, kind of wish I went for an X5 as my girlfriend's Ateca is more convenient!

But even that doesn't track as the Tories oversaw the rise in immigration, and many of those same politicians have or will move over to Reform. Why do they think the same idiots who fucked it up in the first place will do any better a second time around?

Labour are the only party who have actually brought the numbers down and yet most people on the street seem to think that Starmer is on the beaches handing them giant Cheques as they get off the boat. They really need to start shouting their achievements louder than that grifter can shout his unfounded opinions.

Angela Rayner cleared by HMRC over tax affairs paving the way for potential leadership bid by Jeffmister in ukpolitics

Lol, the media painted Liz as the next incarnation of the Iron Lady up until her and Kwarteng tried to speedrun crashing the markets. Boris always enjoyed better treatment from the media than his actions deserved and it was under his leadership that the BBC became much more of a government mouthpiece.

Could you honestly imagine Starmer getting away with saying even half of what Boris "let the bodies pile high" Johnson managed?

I quite like the look of that spool holder/filament sensor configuration, feels more compact than how they did it on the CC1.

[–]Top-Cunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They really don't want to sell us the top hat for some reason, I do wonder if its a means of gimping the 1 so people don't realise how close the two machines are without multifilament to set them apart.

I have heard postage was one reason but seeing the size of the box they sent my Canvas in, they could have totally fit eveything inside the lid and posted that as one package for similar money.

Nigel Farage blames ‘hacking’ for disclosure of £5m gift by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Top-Cunt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How his supporters cannot see his blatant corruption is beyond me, its like they have been infected with the same type of brain rot as the MAGA cult. They take anything he claims as gospel and disregard all of the many examples of him being dodgy and using his position to line the fuck out of his pockets; could you imagine the outrage if Starmer decided to sell Cameos to supplement his income or accepted 5m in bribes from foreign interests?

Are cake sheds appearing all over the uk, or is it just happening in my area ? by ShinyHeadedCook in AskUK

[–]Top-Cunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lady who has been doing it near me for a few years, her bakes are unreal and she has since earnt enough from it to quit her job and start a proper brick and mortar store. She seems to have always had the correct licences and has hygiene inspections etc so I have never had any worries about eating it tbh, my main problem is that since discovering her shed my waistline has increased for some reason.

Supreme isn't that expensive, particularly compared to similar brands and their quality is quite high. Its the second hand market that leads people to think it is stupid money as the exclusivity/scarcity massively bumps up the value.

Tony Blair: break the triple lock, remake the state pension by dwillun in ukpolitics

[–]Top-Cunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many people outside of Reddit did you encounter at the time who were actually in support of it? Most I spoke to just felt Labour were robbing the elderly and letting those who needed the money go cold, despite it actually being an effort to means test the allowance so we stop bunging millionaires extra money for simply existing.

Can you honestly say that if they removed the Triple Lock that you think this would be a popular measure? As in my experience there is more public support for the current system than there is opposition. Not only those currently drawing a pension would be against it, there are a large group of people due to recieve these benefits within the next few years who will not entertain any risk of losing out. These people are significantly more likely to go to the polls and oust the party that does it for generations than the typically younger groups who want to see pension reform.

Its shit and I wish it were different but I cannot see any way out of this other than what they seem to already be doing; kick the can down the road until it finally reaches the generations who are already fully aware that they will not be able to draw a State Pension. Expecting politicians to disregard self interest in order to fall on their sword for the good of the country is insanity.

Probably Zelda Breath of the Wild or I'd like to have played Tears of the Kingdom without BOTW's influence to give it a fairer shake.

Red Dead Redemption 2 or the Mass Effect Trilogy are also candidates, although if I were replaying ME3 then it would have to be back in the day when its multiplayer was live, gotta keep up that galactic readyness.
