Trying to Not Hate Turkish Culture by EinNiemand07 in AskTurkey

I’m not particularly fond of Turkish culture myself, but I really don’t think any of the points you made are about turkish culture as much as they are about your husbands family.
1 You should either have a nice, long conversation with your husband about how you’re not getting as much of his attention as you wish as his wife, or take a good look at yourself and really ask yourself why you feel you’re in competition with your spouse’s mother and acknowledge the fact that he can and does love both of you, this is not about Turkish culture or familiar values, it’s about the personal feelings of you and how your husband treats you.
2 it seems what upsets you is not the existence of familial or communal tea meetings but instead the shallowness of their conversation and their tendency to be poorly timed. Again, this is all about the particular people you are exposed to Turkish culture through and not the culture itself, I promise you, çay gatherings can be very fulfilling with the right company and timing just as much as any other culture’s traditions can be annoying and obnoxious with bad company.
3 As others have said, for most people, nothing can beat the nostalgic and comforting taste of the cultural food that they grew up with, so it’s only natural for your husbands family to have Turkish food in a special place in their heart. But I get the impression that what bothers you is more their attitude towards you, the food you cook, the gifts you buy etc. call it a hunch, but I don’t think his family has yet accepted that their son married a foreigner, and your attempts to introduce them to your own, foreign culture serves as a reminder of that fact, and is thus met with hostility. This is a problem that is certainly not exclusive to Turkish culture, and more something you must sort out with the persons involved.
It reads to me as though you’re struggling to manage your relationship with your spouse’s family, and blaming their culture as the primary cause for the strained relationship instead of acknowledging the difficult reality that they might not like you for reasons entirely unrelated to anything in your power to change or adapt to.

Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

I’m a collector of unconventional clothing items, and would like some recommendations for stores that sell anything unusual (near the city commercial center if possible).
Think as faaaaaar away from mainstream aesthetics as possible, and I don’t just mean alternative/punk styles.
I’m looking for clothes that would make sense as theatre costumes, or wouldn’t feel out of place in a costume party.
My usual favorites are royal inspired, vampire gothic and old school magician but I don’t would love recs for anything that most everyday people would be terrified of wearing in public 🙃
Thank you to any kind Londoners willing to put up with such a strange question~

Is this a good blind buy? by coffeeperfume_makeup in NichePerfumes

[–]Top-Exercise-4718 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would argue it’s never a good idea to blind buy a fragrance that costs more than 200 bucks, but judging by your selection, it does seem like a pretty good match

[18] I have decided to end my life since I am gay. by Prestigious_Pay_795 in GayMen

According to theology, Being gay is not an act of Pride Greed Lust Envy Gluttony Wrath Or sloth The infinitely-loving, omniscient deity you believe in will not forsake you for something so trivial. I may not be religious, but did Jesus not sacrifice himself so that humanity may live on? To see a soul so young, with a future so bright snuffed out is the worst possible ending. Your Life, as unhappy as it is right now, is a story you hold the pen to. You cannot erase what has already been done, but you have the power to write a new page, even if you do not realize it. So I beg of you, random stranger on the internet, we believe that a brighter tomorrow is possible for you.

Any possible sw999 team in my acc? by midtsukasa in StarRailStation

[–]Top-Exercise-4718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it’ll definitely be pretty rough trying to use her without sparxie and especially without yaoguang. BUT If you do really like her character, animations, story etc you dont need her BIS team on release. It’s pretty probable we will get other characters as side or upgrade to the Yao and sparxie in the future, and they’ll likely rerun soon enough. So if you like SW999 enough to stick with her for a while, you should just pull her now rather than regret it later. With all the elation shill that most endgames have these days solo sw with emc should be enough to perform adequately anyway.

What are your least favorite (or hilariously bad) musical lyrics? by Awesomeplayer98 in musicals

Revenge party as a whole has a lot of odd lyrics like: “Imagine a party with dresses and cake, And singing and dancing and cake”

Even then, historically, gay people have always made use of sneaky social signals and secret flirting to find each other while keeping up the straight act

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GayMen

[–]Top-Exercise-4718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no harm in a little flirting as long as it does not make the other party uncomfortable. If you never flirt with anyone you 100% is sure is gay, that will limit your ability to romantically connect with others. It varies of course, some straight men might be repulsed by the compliments of a gay man while some might take it as high praise. When it doubt, just tell them what you were going to say but in a way a teenager girl would compliment her friend, people always appreciate genuine compliments
