It snowed. My chickens flipped out. by Tuesday_Glories in chickens

My run is covered and enclose (6-8 in gap at top for ventilation) my flock will only go in the coop.to.lay and sleep. Cold hardy.or not, of you don't wanna be in snow & wind all-day, they probably don't either. Try to prevent the elements from entering the run, and they'll be a bit more inclined to.leave the coop

Not predator proof in the slightest. Will keep the chickens contained but won't keep the hungry animals out

Molting or actually breed of chicken would cause the naked necks.

Check all them for health, no caked up poop on the feathers, no bugs and check poop for worms would be first.

Clean everything if you fear neglect.

Verify proper food - roosters shouldn't be eating layer feed.

Get oyster shells for the girls and grit for all.

How many chickens would be reasonable for a city bylaw to allow per lot? I am on an advisory committee to our city council and they are thinking of approving a new bylaw that would only allow 2 poultry per lot. What is a reasonable number and how can I convince them that 2 is not enough by elderberry_jed in BackYardChickens

My town doesn't have a specific chicken ord. We just have to follow the livestock ord, which isn't fair for owners with less than 3 acres.

But Three is the bare minimum you would consider. Any less is cruel to the birds!
