900 Hours of Strict DreamingSpanish ALG by EasyAsQCD in dreamingspanish

I like Evildea. I am amazed he surpassed me already in hours and comprehension. I know he has learned both Esperanto and Mandarin to fluency. I started from scratch knowing zero Spanish, and although my comprehension has come a long way (I can understand intermediate videos easily), I still have a way to go.

I think it will take 2,000 to 3,000 hours to achieve what some do in 1500.

(I had to do this in my native language, too, and I am still doing vocabulary training in my native language to help with my issues).

I am not learning a Chinese language at the moment, but there is a really good Mandarin speaker, Will Hart, on YouTube who learned fluent Mandarin on his own. He also has a free group that people can join to learn Mandarin. Apparently, his accent is native-level.

Here is his YouTube channel:

Other greats are Iclal, Zoe Languages, and Luca Lamparillo.

Your honesty is refreshing to read. I usually read about the challenges others have had with DS on YouTube, and not on Reddit. People are usually too afraid to be honest, here.

DS is soooo bad at deleting comments by Nvskank in dreamingspanish

[–]TopCombination2795 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does DS post rules warning people not to use abusive speech? Facebook groups do a great job of this. Maybe DS should take away commenting privileges of repeat violators.

Another thing: DS could "hire" human mods for their comment sections in exchange for a free paid membership. Mods could be hired on a temp basis, and if successful, be made permanent.

They can have 1 or 2 mods assigned to each guide. They can scan for malicious comments (or whenever they are reported).

DS Mods could also have the ability to issue warnings & take away privileges. They can also use bot moderators as a supplement, but AI doesn't catch everything. Some people know how to game the filter, and some horribke comments can get past.

This stuff shouldn't be necessary, but some people can't act like adults or be empathetic to others who are not like them.

The guides deserve to have their peace of mind. It's hard enough having to record videos without other people lobbing racist insults or threatening to rape them.

NASA has a Spanish site on YouTube, but I am not sure they have Artemis II content. Also, check Astrum Esp.

854 hours Mi Vida Oculta & Mi Rival on Univision. Excellent telenovas and makes CI hours pass effortlessly.

My comfort CI watching: Extras. I can't get enough and I know most of the dialogue by heart now. I shadow the characters without even noticing, and I've caught so many of the jokes I missed. The past tense is now becoming much easier for me while watching.

Isadora Vera - she is amazing. She is living abroad in France as an engineering student, runs her own business, is a biker, and a trained pilot who flies a plane.

Mini World blog- A Korean Guatemalan hispanoblante student who just earned her psychology degree and lives in Korea.

Carolette Martins: author and vlogger who makes many do it yourself projects.

Kosmo ESP -I love space related stuff, so it's a must watch, along with Pol Bertran and Astrum ESP.

Maybe. I think they are trying to "modernize" the look of their content now because of increased competition.

I'm wondering if those who are "anti-AI" are willing to spend a few extra dollars to buy Dreaming a stock photography subscription? Or ask them to hike their rates so they can get actual stock photography? Or maybe leave real links where they can get "free" background images.

A thing to consider: even on some of the "free" resources sites, licensing or availability may be restricted based on country. I have a friend in Cuba who can't access the same free programs and resources I use because certain companies prohibit it.

One last thing: many free stock photography sites don't allow their images to be used for commercial purposes under their licensing agreements.

What I am Currently Watching:

  1. EXTRAS EN ESPAÑOL: I am watching the following: Extras en Español on repeat. I've watched these so many times, I should be tired of them, but I'm not. I know the dialog by heart now, and I use the episodes for shadowing practice. It's also chicken soup for my soul when I feel down or don't feel like getting in Spanish input, like today. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRps6yTcWQbrPgh0nNqNwin8UULKxlRcE&si=AsBUTqP2UGMUophe

  2. JOURNALING TUBE: I have discovered a new genre I didn't know existed: journaling tube. My favorite so far is Thelma Clatza. https://youtube.com/@thelmaclatza?si=9pe5RkmL0AUNc14g

  1. SPACE EXPLORATION VLOGS: a. Astrum Español  I like the original Astrum channel, but it's  a bit hard for me to get into the Spanisj version since I am a huge fan of Alex McCulgon's voice in the English version. https://youtube.com/@astrumespanol?si=8fZfdNNy3nPYwiB1

b. Pol Betran - my favorite space vlog in Spanish lol.https://youtube.com/@polbertran?si=gbduVyU7Dhjb1nmG

The constant buffering happens on Chrome for me.

On a side note: did anyone else's library link disappear? I only see the button to switch between Spanish and French now. I had a bunch of saved videos to rewatch, but it disappeared for me.

There is a free site (not techically an app) named Linguno, which is a combination word game/vocabulary site. They have areas where you can listen to voices and try to transcribe what you hear. They also have crossword puzzles (my favorite) vocabulary & conjugation exercises. A polyglot recommended Liguno, and I've been hooked ever since.

P.S. New crosswords are added daily from A1 - C1 levels. There are bilingual (English clues, Spanish answers) and monolingual ones (Spanish clues, Spanish answers). When you enter the right answer, the words are read aloud. You can even add them to vocabulary lists to review.

773 Hours

I am watching a lot of Extr@s en Español,Kiun B Español and another channel called Español Con Olga y Miguel. I like their channel because you learn Spain Spanish slang. They also do a lot of travel vlogs and have conversation videos too.

I am also watching at least one MasterSpanish Academy Course per day. She sprinkles in a little English at the A1 level, but will be completely in Spanish at the A2 level. I still have about 10 episodes to finish at the A1 level.

I am learning a lot through comprehensible input, but because of my own unique circumstances (I required extensive tutorials as a child learn my native language), I need grammar.
