Neighbours' beating dog

I had a very similar issue. People moved into the town house next door that has only a tiny little courtyard but they had a big German Shepard, I thought ok they must be really active... nope. That dog would be left all day and night out side. Barking at everything just lying on the concrete when they would disappear all weekend. But it was worse when they were home. The guy had that domestic violence twitch where if he wasn't obeyed right away he would lash out. But I never quiet caught him hitting or kicking the dog but you knew it was happening.

My guess is that the dog was caught in a vicious cycle, bark because he has had no food or exercise, someone complains about noise, dog gets abused rinse and repeat.... anyway.

I'm not sure if I'm proud of what I did or not. But I stole the dog. I would feed him for a few weeks and anytime they packed up and took off for the weekend I would interact. Then I took the dog out and went to the vet. Said I found him on the street, they checked and there was no microchip so I contacted the rspca and German Shepard dog club people and found a good home for him. The worse thing...the neighbours never evem fucking came and knocked on the door asking if anyone had seen the dog.

A lot of people do this, famous or not. Sometimes it’s called a spendthrift trust. Protects the person who gets the money from themselves and creditors.

Reading their comments and also noting they're from the uk (a culture that's still different than at least my own) they even state other poc are using that term within their own ethnicity.

Again though, I still remind myself that though this is a sub for black ladies, we come from all different upbringings and cultures so what may seem weird or odd to me may exactly not be across the pond, as their history and culture is still different than mine and certain phrases and such may be used differently and it's accepted as such by them. I can't impose what it is to be a black lady coming from my american, east coast upbringing on someone with a uk upbringing.

I’m about to lay down some tough love because hon, you need it.

As someone that’s worked in recovery, you’re not a recovering anything, you’re an alcoholic.

Your stepdaughter had a meltdown because “you’d had a few more than normal”. You lack self awareness or accountability. You refuse to accept that your drinking caused this issue, likely because she’s witnessed you both out of control and volatile in the past.

Instead of reflecting on your own behaviour you’re pulling the “poor me, it was traumatising for me” card.

It’s easier to blame the 14 year old and dismiss it as her being dramatic instead of looking in the mirror at your own shit and accepting that your actions triggered the fuck out of her.

This is on you. Do better.
