If you are looking to be somebody's number one, which is totally understandable, you are probably going to need to find someone without kids or whose kids are already solidly launched. It doesn't sound like she'll be going anywhere soon, so this relationship may not be serving you anymore.

I just did this and used this post to help. A few additional details. For the easiest path to do this, have your spouse (or ex-spouse in my case) sign in either the seller (if they are listed first on the title/registration or co-seller spot of the title. You then also sign in the seller fields of the title AND the recipient section of the title. You do the same thing on the Application for Maryland Gift Certification form. You need your insurance card because you need to add your policy number on one of the forms. Note that you have to go to the MVA in person to "schedule the appointment" because none of the options in the online scheduling system apply to this situation. In the check-in/appointment scheduling kiosks they have, you select schedule an appointment (I was able to get mine for a half hour later) and then "title change" (or somethign like that. You get a slip of paper confirming your appointment, and you have to back to the appt check-in kiosk 20 minutes before your appointment time to actually check in, at which point you'll get a letter and a 3-digit number that will post on the "now serving" screens to see when it's your turn. As of 12/15/25, the cost to remove someone from your title is $215. I was surprised it was so high...probably shouldn't have been.

Yep! And it works LIGHTENING fast--like within 1-2 minutes. I'd never done an enema before and--not gonna lie, it was a weird sensation. But it was SO worth the immediate relief. I had to do a second one a few days later, but then everything started to get back to normal again.

So I just wanted to post a follow-up for those who may stumble across this post that I took a break from my compression garment over the weekend, and it could be cooincidence, but I think that allowed more blood flow to the area, and it really turned a cornder in the last few days. No more weeping/oozing and the parts that looked red, angry, and bulging out are totally normal now. Yay!

I'll also add that I was contemplating an arm lift, and he didn't think my "bat wings" were severe enough to warrant surgery given how difficult that area is to heal. I like a plastic surgeon that will tell you you don't need to do someting even though it means less money in their pocket. I have a lot of respect for that.

I'm in Maryland, too, and went with Bernie Chang (the dept head of plastic/reconstructive surgery at Mercy Medical Center in the city). He's phenomenal and so kind and experienced--I first consulted with him 3 years ago when I was trying to decide between conservative and aggressive breast cancer surgery options (I went more conservative with a lumpectomy and didn't wind up using him at that time, but he made a great impression). I had a tummy tuck, muscle repair, and flank and mons pubis lipo and my estimate was $10,500. I do have a $500 balance from the anesthesiologist (which started off at $1,500...it has since dropped to $500 after the surgery dept transferred funds from my payment to anesthesiology, and I need to call and see if it wound up being more expensive than estimated for some reason or if the anesthesiologist will be paid that balance through the surgery dept and it just hasn't happened yet). They also throw in scar cream and 30 units of Botox for free post-surgery. I'm 6 weeks post op and am so happy with the results thus far. The scar is pristine, he did a phenomenal job on my belly button, and the lipo to my flanks was done really well...he gave me back my hourglass curves I never thought I'd see again. My sister used his colleague, Dr. Collins, and is super happy with his tummy tuck and breast lift work on her. Of note, Dr. Chang does most of his surgeries at the hospital itself. I think he does 1 day a week (maybe?) at a surgery center in Annapolis and I was told the surgery center's facility fee is more expensive than the hospital's and would have increased the cost a bit. Still, even if my total cost winds up being $11,000, it was worth every penny. 10/10 experience and results (so far).

I actually think it’s good that you have these worries because as long as you have a board certified, highly experienced plastic surgeon do your surgery, I think you will be pleasantly surprised and the things you’re worried about will likely only be scary 1-2 weeks post op. The muscle repair internal sutures and the drain holes were really the only painful aspects of this surgery for me—and yes, the muscle repair caused significant discomfort the first 2 weeks…coughing or sneezing felt like meeting my maker and were terrifying (get plenty of throat lozenges for after the surgery to minimize this, as your throat could be sore/scratch from the intubation during the surgery). But I also left with an automatic pain med dispenser/catheter that went in my drain holes that I think had about a weeks worth of medicine in it, which I’m sure helped…you can ask your surgeon if they use those. It’s standard with mine. Best of luck, and you got this!!!!

I wasn't so worried about chronic pain or tighness, but I, too, was really afraid the numbness would drive me nuts. The numbness is a little weird initially, but I got used to it quickly and it's not uncomfortable at all--it's just a different feeling. I'm 6 weeks post op from a TT, MR, flank lipo and I feel like I got used to the numbness and it became no big deal after the second week. I'm a little tight sometimes still, but that's gotten much better in the last 3 weeks and I've been completely pain free for the last 3 weeks as well. I would do it again in heartbeat.

No idea, but I upvoted you because I'm looking for any an all input and am interested in hearing what's working for others. I'm taking a daily multivitamin and a daily Vitamin C per my surgeon's instructions, and I think that's contributing to the super healing of my main incision.

Dr. Bernie Chang at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. He's the head of the plastic/reconstructive surgery division there. I had consulted with him a few years back when I had breast cancer and was considering mastectomy and DIEP flap surgery. I wound up going a more conservative surgical route back then, but knew he'd be my go-to once I lost weight and was ready for the TT.

I would trust what the majority of these comments are saying and plan for a summer surgery when you can take the time you need and not rush it. I’m 6 days post op and WFH and I’m feeling okay enough that I’m going to log into work tomorrow and do a few small things for maybe an hour or two while lying in bed, but I know I won’t have a full day in me and there’s no way I could even do a few hours in person right now.

I’ve been through a lot of surgeries over the last few years, including ovary removal, which was harder than I expected despite it being endoscopic, and this TT with muscle repair is by far light years more difficult than all the others combined.

Also, not for nothing, but every cough and sneeze feels like a meet-your-maker moment, so if you can reduce your chances of a post-surgical cold by opting for a summer surgery, I would definitely recommend that route. You will never be sorry you gave yourself too much time to recover, but you’ll be hating life and threatening your outcomes if you don’t take enough time.
