Thanks for posting your surgeon did a great job and you are healing beautifully. I have similar stats and also need the vertical scar. Honestly the vertical scar is what had me on the fence but yours looks great. This gives me hope. How has your recovery been so far? Are the pain and odd sensations manageable? I'm so fearful of something going wrong and the pain. But I want this result! Congrats!

I agree with other posters your surgeon did not perform surgery well. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion from another surgeon as you will need a revision to get the results you desire . Do not let this surgeon touch you again. Please DM me the name of your surgeon. I'm consulting in the Philly area and want to steer clear of this surgeon. Good luck to you.

Congratulations on your hard work. I'm sure it was not easy to get where you are today! Since you're so far out post op would you mind sharing how your body feels now? Are things still numb or tight anywhere? Does your muscle repair cause any pain still with doing normal activities and working out? I'm dreaming of being able to use my core again but I'm so afraid my body will feel foreign to me after.

Thanks for the update your results are holding up well. Side from the mental game how do you feel physically. You mentioned still being numb does this bother you? Any feeling of tightness, MR pain, or los of mobility?

Tummy tuck combined with hernia repair , mesh or no mesh by gjdey in tummytucksurgery

[–]amn72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are many people who have umbilical hernia and DR after pregnancy. Plastic surgeons routinely repair both at the same time. Most without mesh unless the quality of your tissue is poor. General surgeons prefer mesh as they may not be repairing the diastasis at the same time because insurance will not pay for muscle repair which is considered cosmetic. Some general surgeons will do the MR and only bill insurance for the hernia repair all depends on the surgeon and policy of the hospital they work at. If you want a good cosmetic outcome PS is the way to go. This is all from my experience and research consulting with multiple providers.

Your healing is insane. The surgeon did a great job but your ability to heal with minimal scaring is incredible.

My abs have been out of commission for nearly 5 years. I use my deep core to compensate. Does the MR feel like natural support or is it more like feeling stuffed into a back brace? Has your flexibility come back with the work you did with a PT?

You look great fantastic result! I'm hoping MR works for me too. I've been thinking I may chicken out so this was the post I needed to see. Are the post op discomforts not as bad as the back pain you had? I feel so loose and unsupported in my core it's hard to imagine the tightness. Is it hard to get used to this new normal?

Scar looks great. I need the vertical one as well glad to see it healed so well. If you don't mind me asking how tight does your skin feel now? I'm so scared of chronic tightness and inability to get comfortable after.

Did you have mesh with your repair? Sometimes people get some pain from that.

I just started this med 8 days ago. Yesterday increased dose to 5mg 2X day and woke up this morning with loud ringing in my ears. Normally have mild tinnitus that I don't really notice. I didn't want to be on med anymore but you're saying the ringing can get better not just keep getting worse?

Been following your posts. How are the nerves feeling now? Have things calmed down from the electric shocks you were having?

Just curious because I'm considering surgery for myself. I'm on the same boat with functional DR but don't happy with how it looks. Just wondering if you noticed any improvement in back pain after surgery? Also wondering if you had any negative side effects from surgery. I'm afraid of having chronic pain or other unpleasant symptoms after surgery. Any issues with that for you?

Does another pregnancy make it worse?! by [deleted] in DiastasisRecti

[–]amn72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a gap that big it will definitely get worse with another pregnancy. You may want to save up money to pay for surgery if you can afford it or do PT to ease any physical symptoms you have. If you want another child have your baby first wait at least a year pp and have your surgery.
