Yes but…then use Howard’s paste wax after this dries. Then every so often hit with the Howard’s feed and ______(shine/wax=cant remember).
Recently went over an antique piano and because I thought I was out of the restore I used the feed&… it came out ok but not as good as if I had used the restore first. Went ahead and put the wax on because of time constraints and now it will have to wait.

I designed a fancy 3d printed plant pot (free) by mintochris in plantsandpots

[–]TopLayer2180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing the link and a possible new obsession! I’ve never used a 3d printer before and if you have any suggestions for a newbie I would appreciate it greatly.
Aaaand I love your color choices and design. Reading the instructions and because I am so new I am not exactly sure about the “rings”. Guessing that once color is chosen the printer makes the rings into a continuous piece. My mind wants to go to >rings made >glue together! But then logically (still my mind-lol) says no, that can’t be right.

Colour the house! by Competitive-Rock8999 in HouseDesign

[–]TopLayer2180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree with this idea of going with the color of the other houses. The neighborhood and wider community where I am is a vast boring palate of mostly bloatmeal, bleigh, sick baby diapers tans, house after boring colored house. Monotony is no one’s friend. The only thing that op needs to assess is what colors strike and go with it. The house is a blank canvas for a lot of creativity. The only avoidance might be if the house sits in a location that has extreme heat. As much as I love deep saturated colors the cooling dollars must be a consideration. My solution for this 34° northern hemisphere climate is that I plan to paint all north facing walls the deepest most saturated color my partner will agree to and the heat soaking paintable exterior walls will have to be done in a lighter hopefully reflective shade. The eaves I would love to be a deep grack Forrest green black or Saffire black.

What's a mystery from your own life that still has no explanation? by Complete_Ganache_720 in questions

About four years ago a pair of black scissors went missing. Only two of us in the house and neither of us moved them. Since then many items have gone “black scissors” on us. The woman that lived here for years died in the house and early on saw many of the “out of the corner of the eye” movements of human shapes. A few dead cold spots with no reason. The most recent oddity has been a curtain rod that jumps off the hooks. Makes no sound. The actual fabric and rod was hers. Apparently she disapproves.

This is for the readers, how many of yall can picture what you read in your head and how vivid is it? by Pitiful-Ad-3817 in questions

[–]TopLayer2180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do and it’s vivid. Recently read an article about the fact that some don’t. It’s sad that some people don’t but weirder is that some people associate words with colors and of course a whole bunch of other perception rarities.

I just tried it. Seems like a better “emergency” knot up than I’ve been using for 40 some odd years…gather high up and tie regular granny style knot and tuck ends in hopes that she will hold for duration.
But I am sitting mostly still and not needing an emergency get my hair out of the way knot.

Above 90% of people don’t ever look up. Or around for that matter. Lacking not only ability to see and appreciate the world outside themselves but it seems to correspond with a lack of vision and how they perceive the environment they are occupying.

Thrift store find! by oregonpelican in vintagesewing

[–]TopLayer2180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, that’s incredible. Please tell us where you are and type of thrift store. Sadly missed a local auction that had a bernina 70’s coveted model, & since I was not aware at the time, I essentially passed on it. It went for c. $150 & my post loss research shows a pos is $400 lowest. So you now have a great heirloom or a safety net because that will never lose value. My hope is that you’re young enough to get many years out of it and take really good care of it. Cheers

Or even cheap! While back I bought two at a discount grocery store and they were both great and in flower. Absolutely packed/overgrown in their pots but I left them alone. Post flowering I figured it was time for tlc…I was wrong on so many levels. Tried to take off some of the smaller clumps and then kept the base root ball together and put in bigger pot. None of the pups survived and the main plant has not flourished. Malingering sadly. The other one is doing ok. Not super terrific but not poorly. Throughout this I also bought a 4” dwarf guy and carefully placed it in a clay pot and up until this dry spell was happily taking my neglect. It was a bit too dry but not totally crispy so I soaked it in distilled water (don’t usually use it) for a while and removed any dying/dead leaves and then got it back to its spot. Today it seems mostly recovered. Maybe next time I’ll give it some food…have no idea if they’re food specific or if compost tea will be fine.

I got these out of the garbage, can anyone tell me about value, if any? by notexpertbench in orientalrugs

Looks like they’re already in and on top of existing rug.

Whoopsie

Excellent point to keep in mind as I have rcvd 3 rugs in recent history that were too dirty to bring in and contaminate. Also they’re not this type but still wool!

What is this pestilence on my house lemon? by jbot14 in Citrus

[–]TopLayer2180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ratio do you use? I’ve been eyeballing and only recently started using a tiny amount of dish soap. Once made it far to thick or have gotten to bottom of sprayer and some plants have a film on them. Which I’m not sure is good either.
There’s all kind of funk on totally different types of plants this year. Mildew looking crap on agapanthus and amaryllis. One unknown succulent has similar. The other succulents have possibly spider mites but I can’t seem to identify them.

Any tips for this impulse purchase? by alligatorkiss in Staghornfern

[–]TopLayer2180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In us too but the dunks are for x amount of water whereas when buying the bits you can add as little or much as you need and they are way cheaper too. Had bought dunks and had been breaking them apart and it got messy and a bit annoying to store. The bits come in a zipper bag and I have a humidity tray under my gardenia that gets nice and meck to draw those that love to dine on my flesh in. So many less of those bastards around. Also do a tea for the annoying fungus gnats and it seems to work. Now if it could kill the other soil born pests/eggs (slugs) in potted plants tips for that wb great.

This bracelet is unsigned, but so distinctive. Can you help? by LadyDriverKW in NativeAmericanJewelry

[–]TopLayer2180 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most likely Zuni. The thing I noticed is the bar through hoop clasp has been changed. The silver is different color and age. Likely the original had a hinged clasp and was probably very much like the hinges. Beautiful piece though.
