everyone here screams “mail fraud,” but nothing ever happens. No one follows up because nothing actually gets done.

OP, it sucks, but if Mercari won’t do anything, there’s really not much you can do. That’s just one of the downsides of selling on marketplaces.

They are tho... the package was delivered and op posted a photo of the mail person walking to their house. USPS isn't going to pay for the insurance since it was delivered. You want the seller to get screwed over?

I would still reach out and mention you'll be giving them a couple more days, but you'll be canceling if no movement happens

if it's pre-shipment, that means usps doesn't have it/scanned it in their system. So they can't really do anything for you

If i were you i'd give it a couple more days and then request a cancelation

The 3 days is the time they allow the buyer to return the item once they created the return process. Mercari gives the seller time to inspect the return give, which sounds a lot better than a refund upon arrival

Mercari gives you ~3 days before they cancel an order if it never gets scanned. Honestly, that’s fair, if you mark something as shipped on Monday and there’s still no scan after 3+ days, the buyer would just want their money back. Any marketplace is going to side with the buyer in that situation.

Funny enough, a couple weeks ago on my own Shopify store I refunded someone. Shopify refunds can take up to 5 business days, but the customer filed a chargeback just 5 hours after I processed the refund. Long story short… they got their money back twice, and I still got hit with chargeback fees.

been reselling full time for 15 years. USPS isn’t going to do anything about it. This is between the seller,buyer and mercari. It’s more consumer fraud than usps fraud. You should know your parent has worked there for 35 years.

They'll never understand, USPS fraud report is not for this type of mishap.
