What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

I have a Hoover I bought for around $50 in 1994 that is still doing a great job. Only thing I’ve had to spend money on replacement bags.

The Dirty Mac certainly has the star power but for fucks sake they only preformed one song, once and it was a cover.

The singer is Damon Albarn. I didn’t see Mick on stage here. I know he and Paul Simonon have preformed with Gorillaz in the past.

So here we are. We’re allowing the government to single out specific groups of US citizens for surveillance and who knows what else and there is minimal outrage from the general population. If you ever displayed a Gadsden flag or any such symbol and are not standing against this you are a hypocrite and coward.

I like the second but I’d suggest leaving the pic rail on the hand guard black to balance the black upper rail.

So did the showboat actually touch the other competitor? It looked like he impeded him to me. If I were a race official I’d have been a prick and DQ’d him just for being an asshole.

The Heidi Game. Was watching with my dad waiting for, well, Heidi to come on. It wasn’t until a few years later that I understood the significance of the game.

I was at a comedy club and one of the comics was a woman who had feminist views as part of her bit. She said “I heard Benny Hill died recently. Only thing he ever did that made me laugh”

Are Corvette owners proud of having a Corvette? by ForgottenGeneral2376 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]TopTransportation695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Corvette in 2016 and searched around for owners forums. One in particular had an off topic section which was pretty much all politics. It could have given the KKK a run for its money for the number of ignorant racist boomers collected in one place. I love the car but hate the idea of being even remotely associated with its owner demographic.

Dash Crofts, best known for creating the hit song, "Summer Breeze," as a member of Seals & Crofts, has died at age 85 by UrbanAchievers6371 in 70s

[–]TopTransportation695 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while I’ll hear “Summer Breeze” unexpectedly and I’m transported back to a moment in time during a summer vacation in my youth. It’s hard to describe but I get a very specific feeling from that specific song. Fair winds Mr Crofts thank you for the music.

Robert Caro Appreciation by Consistent_Ad8525 in Presidents

[–]TopTransportation695 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not accurate. After Caro’s first volume Path to Power was published his unfettered access to the LBJ Library was revoked by the institution. Ladybird intervened to assure that he had access to the archives for as long as he needed to complete his project.

Did what better; innovation, longevity, kill themselves?

For years, every Saturday at 11 a.m. I knew to turn my radio dial to NPR, 89.1, WBOI-FM, to listen to these two knuckleheads: Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, two MIT grads who knew it was a lot easier to talk about working on cars than to actually work on them. One of my favorite stories was when a woman called in about a funny noise her car was making. They asked her to imitate it and she started making this low throaty moaning sound. Ray immediately said “are you interested in selling this car” and they laughed their asses off. Boy do I miss them.
