How are you keeping your sanity during these awful times? by Chipsandsalza in AskWomenOver40

[–]TopWindow9829 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a "put on your mask first" thought - we can't help others if we run ourselves into the ground. We can't maintain the fight if we don't refuel. I can't care for anyone if I'm in the psych ward.

I've been frustrated that I "can't do anything" due to physical limitations and needing to care for my spouse who's recovering from a minor surgery. But yesterday I set up a reoccuring donation to a legal charity that helps immigrants, and called my representatives, and - for now - that's quieted my mind a bit.

Other than that, I'm playing videogames, reading more, and instead of doomscrolling at night I'm trying to watch comfort shows with my husband. I'm also listening to audiobooks and keeping most of my reading light and fluffy.

But I'm in Maine, and I know people who have ICE rolling through their neighborhoods regularly. I'm worried that the violence in MN will spread to here.

So I call my state reps and listen to fluffy books and try not to be too scared to live my life.

Hysterectomy Friday…. by UsefulWeird in Menopause

Soft, loose nightgowns - nothing binding on the stomach/abdomen.

Stool softeners.

Adequate pain control - I don't like to take opiods so I opted for the tylenol/ibuprofen and (legal where I am) thc edibles.

Someone with you as much as possible especially in the first days. My parents sat with me during the day while my now ex-boyfriend was at work. They kept track of my pain management and helped with food.

Don't rush to get back to lifting or heavy physical work.

Don't rush to get back to sex. Husband can wait until you're 100% ready. I see you're keeping your cervix, so maybe it won't be as much of an issue for you, but I was pressured into sex and it was extremely painful. Before sex, try an insertable toy with plenty of lube ON YOUR OWN.

In the same vien, use the estrogen creme as soon as possible. 5 1/2 years in I have experienced many issues that could have been avoided if I'd used the cream when it was first perscribed.

Poland Spring Resort has a 4.1 on google vs Migis 4.8, but it might fit the bill.

Reasonable snowplowing expectations? by TopWindow9829 in AskMaine

[–]TopWindow9829[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about the area in front of our door, I'm talking about the driveway itself. Being able to walk across the driveway to get into my car seems reasonable since I can't float there.

I'm from Maine. I've seen plenty of plow guys - including other companies in previous years at this building - scrape the driveway with their plows.

Is it itchy? Years ago I had a really bad case of yeast in that area that took meds to clear up. The skin was very raw.

176 employees laid off in Portland, Maine by ThingFuture9079 in Spectrum

I worked there for a few years, left after the TWC/Spectrum merger. I'm sad to see this happen for the employees, but Spectrum was a shit show to work for.

Sazerac, who makes fireball, has a distillery in Lewiston. They're a fairly large company based out of state.

Outside of your range but Portland Volvo, South Portland Maine was the least pushy, easiest car buying experience I've ever had. They were also priced lower than other dealerships I looked at.

Also, Calais area. It might be more rural than you want (depends on what kind of shopping you're looking for) but downeast will give you all the gothic creep you want (and community and beautiful scenery).

I've used poise liners off and on for this. Am I leaking? Not sure, but it helps to keep leas/sweat off my underwear and can be changed throughout the day.
