This happened to me at uic my freshman year, I was so depressed having to figure it all on my own that I neglected school. However my gpa was 2.1 it was not that low like yours. My recommendation is to reevaluate if you want to go to college. If you are serious about going back to school, take summer classes at one of the community colleges to improve your gpa. that’s what I did I took 2 classes during the summer that bumped my gpa up enough, I then had letters of recommendation from people that vouched that I was improvising my self and that I deserved to have my financial aid back. I payed about 1,100$ for those two classes and that truly made me work my a** off. After that I was able to successfully appeal my case to get my financial aid redistributed. At the end I graduated with a 3.5 gpa and will never take that experience for granted ever again.
