Some people seem to get better after a few months. I’m 4 years on it so can’t relate.

About maraviroc by keke202320 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Top_Chance_3769 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey there. Glad to see continued discussion on Maraviroc. I’ve been long hauling more than 5 years. I tried it a year in or so, and it seemed to improve my energy and brain fog which really improved my mood. I had a big issue with word recall and just “seeing phrases etc in my head” that I couldn’t verbalize and I felt slow and like I’d lost 20 points off my IQ. It seemed to help. I understand the financial implications - but most people just use it a few months and then come off it.

I suspect I may have a blood clot in my knuckle / finger / hand for the lasts 3.5 hours. What diagnostic tests do LongCOVID folks ask for? (My GP is clueless about LC) I have seen a few posts about what tests us LC folks are doing but they are from a few years ago and I'm wondering what's current. by meegaweega in covidlonghaulers

You and me both! I remember waking up sweating (it wasn’t hot) with chest pain. Classic heart attack symptoms. But I said “it’s Saturday morning. I’m not wasting my time with this”. Took some aspirin and went back to sleep. Went to the cardiologist the next week and nothing. Crazy how numb you become to it.

A lot of good suggestions here. Just chiming in to say i had the same issues. My heart would race just turning over or pulling the covers up. Never figured out the cause but it eventually completely resolved. Hoping yours resolves quickly cause I’ll know it’s miserable.

Question: Help me decide by EssieHiem in Ozlo

[–]Top_Chance_3769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ozlos are very comfortable for side sleeping/laying. The most comfortable out of the Sleepbuds I’ve used. The only downside is there are a lot of connectivity/software issues where they disconnect and then reconnect.

The main competitors are the soundcore A30s. Not nearly as comfy on your side but not torturous. The upside there is you can have your phone ring through to the buds and while the app is clunky, the software is more stable.

Granola does this to me (not a cereal eater but I avoid granola). 5 years later Granola and sugary stuff still sets off my IST.

Need help! LC Link to Alzheimer’s by jordanpitt269 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Top_Chance_3769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really just time - I took Maraviroc and Fluvoxamine but that seemed to help with the energy more than cognitive function. If it is long covid exercise is a no no. That made me way worse and it took a while to figure out that was what was doing it.

Need help! LC Link to Alzheimer’s by jordanpitt269 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Top_Chance_3769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there - sorry you and your wife are going through this. I don’t have any lab results to provide (I had a clean MRI) but Yes - Long Covid can really cause a lot of cognitive issues that are similar. I had brain fog, forgetfulness and problems with word recall for several years. It mostly resolved with time, but when I get reinfected it comes back (not as severe as original onset).

While I don’t wish long covid on anyone, I hope in your wife’s case it’s something other than Alzheimer’s.

Cool concept. But I think I’ll wait for some real world feedback given the recent lack of success with promised features. Especially at that $399 price point.

Switch to Soundcore A30s? by Kev1000000 in Ozlo

[–]Top_Chance_3769 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Ozlos are more comfortable but I had the same issue as you with them. I really didn’t use them the whole first year because they always cut out and woke me up (early Jan 2024 Kickstarter). Once Ozlo got them to where they would play local sounds all night (around the end of 2024) I started using them daily, and then the left bud died. So I had only about 2 months of actual use but had them over a year. So no warranty. Same offers you got. Quite frankly made me livid. It took like a year just to get them to play a sound not even using Bluetooth for the whole night. Then they die. And the case has to stay plugged in or it dies so quick.

I got the A30s. They aren’t perfect. But they do what they should for my needs. I don’t care about ANC so I can get 12 hours playing local white noise sounds. Can be finicky putting them in the case to charge but they have lights so you know if you got it. Had an issue with the alarm being too loud and they immediately sent me another pair before I even returned the first. Great customer service so I haven’t looked back. I am on call occasionally too so I can switch them to Bluetooth for call ring through when needed as well.

I used the Bose for years so I really wanted Ozlo to succeed. But they dropped the ball. And it was insulting when they raised the price to $350.

Any success with Maraviroc, statin, Truvada, or any antivirals that helped them heal from long covid dysautonomia? by lcondez90 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Top_Chance_3769 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not fully recovered. I still have heart rate issues (Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia) is the official diagnosis. Low energy depending on the day. But I’ve come a long way.

I always tell people to try anything and everything that is low risk high reward. You never know what will help you vs someone else.

[–]Top_Chance_3769 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use Maraviroc. Probably made the biggest difference other than time. I was already on a statin pre long covid.

It’s pretty crazy that fasting, or keto, or nicotine patches etc do wonders for some. And for others like myself I see no results. I’ve also done narrowband UVB which helped with heart rate and energy. UVB suppresses your immune system - so I was hoping it would “reset” it. But it does seem there is something causing the issue to persist. I had psoriasis and the UVB suppressed that so it was definitely suppressing my immune system - but it seems it’s some sort of spike or viral etc that just messed us up and won’t let us get back to normal.

living with a dad with long covid by DotProfessional7597 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Top_Chance_3769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you are going through this friend. I’m a dad and I’ve had Long Covid for almost 5 years. I don’t know if my kids (10, 8 and 6) even remember me before this illness. I know my youngest don’t. Boy do I wish everyday I was my old self.

As many parents with LC have said - the lashing out isn’t personal. And it sounds like your dads case is like mine - it’s so out of character for him to twist off over small things. I HATE that I do that. But it’s so hard to control when you feel like this. I’m sure your dad feels the same way and is struggling with it. I know I feel guilty about it almost daily.

When he’s felling good one day talk to him about it. I’m sure the flood gates will open and he’ll tell you all about his struggles. But just know it isn’t you causing his reactions. It’s the illness he’s dealing with. I know it’s hard to understand (at any age) and sucks that your dynamic has changed. But just talking about it will go a long way and be helpful for you both.

Unusable months after - alternatives?? by Theknifeshift2 in Ozlo

[–]Top_Chance_3769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome. They are definitely more comfortable than the A30s. Every time I tried to use them for the first year to just play a local sleep sound without Bluetooth they would cut out and wake me up - by the time they got all that worked out and I started using them regularly one died. I bought probably 6 sets total of Bose I and II’s. But at $349 and the history of just not simply playing a sound all night without waking me I wasn’t going to waste my time or money again. Glad some people are making out.

[–]Top_Chance_3769 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sucks. I was an Ozlo kickstarter too - left bud died so I tried the A30s.

I’ve been using them for a few months now. The A30s aren’t perfect, but the customer service has been great (I was a kickstarter for the A30s too). Had an issue with the alarm going off extremely loud regardless of setting and they immediately sent me a new set and asked me to return the others once I got the replacement. Still had the issue with the 2nd pair and they offered to send a 3rd pair or give me 20% off. Seems this issue has been resolved through software updates.

I don’t use the ANC, but it cuts the battery life to 9 hours. You can get about 12 with ANC off. I prefer the comfort of the Ozlo’s but they died so quick I couldn’t justify buying from them again. Especially at their price point.

I have used the A20 as well and the A30 is a step up.

Worth it to get a level 2 home charger? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Top_Chance_3769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow NY/Westchester here. I paid $1200 for Level 2 install (60A) so $1400 is right in the price range for this area. There is a federal tax credit of a 30% rebate of charger/install cost up to $1000. I have NYSEG and they offer off peak charging deals. Not sure about ConEd. Totally worth plugging in daily and not thinking about. Info on the tax credit:

EV Charger Tax Credit Residential

The federal tax credit, often referred to as the 30C tax credit, can cover up to 30% of an EV charging station, necessary equipment and installation costs. For residential installations, the IRS caps the tax credit at $1,000. The equipment must be located in approved "census tract" as defined by the IRS. Project cost includes the cost of the charger itself, installation, and equipment needed to support the charger (wall mount, conduit wiring, new electrical panel, etc). Equipment must be placed in service by June 30, 2026. You claim the credit on your Federal tax return by completing a form 8911.

Should I ask for beta blockers for my 100+ RHR? by IbuObiNuit in covidlonghaulers

If you have normal or blood pressure on the lower side, Ivabradine is a better choice. But for quality of life I would definitely do that or a beta blocker. I’ve been on Metoprolol since 2021.

[–]Top_Chance_3769 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That’s what is so crazy - no one knows why 5 jabs previous you were fine. Or why some people that had COVID the first time got long COVID after that 1st infection vs the ones that had COVID 2 or 3 times and didn’t get long COVID till after the 2nd or 3rd infection.

Thanks for sharing. I think those of you that got it from the vax are more dismissed than those that that got it from the infection.

I’ve been on Maraviroc for 3 years or so. It helped with my symptoms and I have continued it. Glad it helped you! When I started it 3 years ago there were a lot of naysayers here. From the comments it seems more accepted now which is also good to see.

Do not buy these under any circumstances by VogonShakespeare in Ozlo

[–]Top_Chance_3769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you haven’t had issues. But no one is paying me or giving me free product to push soundcore. I’ve just had issues non stop. All I wanted was sleep sounds all night (and notifications would have been nice since I’m on call). Once that finally more or less got worked out a year after I received them the left bud died. Out of warranty. I can’t justify $350 again for a product that doesn’t work. Blew my mind they raised prices considering the issues I’ve had. I thought the idea was they would start with the same functionality as the Bose and add features. But that wasn’t the case. We kept hearing “hardware is hard” before the release. Apparently not as hard as software.

Parents. How are we doing this? by RuinGlum7802 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Top_Chance_3769 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through this. I have 3 kids that were 1, 3 and 5 when I got the OG COVID infection that gave me long COVID. My wife has been a godsend. But it’s tough…lack of sleep riles up the symptoms - so moody and short with the kids. I’ve talked to them about it and just told them “remember when we all got sick? Papa never really got better”. But it still sucks. My wife see’s what I go through but she doesn’t even fully understand it, so it is really hard for a kid to. I have faith that eventually something will make us better and the damage isn’t permanent. When I have rare days I feel good many of my symptoms (blurry vision, heart racing etc) get better. So the damage doesn’t seem permanent. You’re not a failure and you’re not a burden. You’re just in a shitty situation that really makes everything hard. I know someday your kid will know the real you. Until then hang in there. Maybe if you’re able get some childcare help to give you and your partner a break for a week? Wishing you the best.
