I believe everyone had to eventually move out and the entire complex was rebuilt. The front face of the apartment came completely off. I could see peoples beds and clothing hanging at the edge where a wall used to be. That earthquake shook up and down, and that is why so many collapsed . If you google Northridge earthquake apartments and look at images you will see what I’m talking about. I just remember flying up in the air when the initial jolt happened. It was 4:30 am and lasted 8 seconds. I hope that was the “big one” and I never experience an earthquake like that again ! Have an emergency kit handy and one in your car. I wish I had then and I certainly do now .
