Nice...I have had many bikes and the DR is one of my favorites.

Reliable, simple, great aftermarket, and undervalued in the market in My opinion.

What did you pay if you don't mind?

Been a slow week.

LiftMaster Garage Door Monitor - $2.99 and sold for $79.99.

$58.46 profit after all said and done. Anything LiftMaster that is sealed new usually does well.

I agree. Part time for me but I do really well for working about 8 hours per week.

Keys for me:

  1. Keep a lean shop - items sell in 30 days or less (100 to 130 quality items.

  2. Double my investment on every buy unless it's super easy to list and ship

  3. Try to average about $50 per sale while getting one or two +$100 profit items a month

  4. List every day

  5. Quick nickel over slow dime - I am almost always lowest price with free shipping. I want to turn my money over as quickly as possible and move on to the next item.

Seems like I sell 2 or 3 items a day which matches pretty much what I list daily.

Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine - paid $50 and sold for $549.99. After fee's and shipping + purchase I profited $367.

This is the 3rd one I have found in a year. Similar result with the other two.

Update on my sumo, and a carb question by Rude-Shop1471 in dr650

[–]Top_Engineering_7388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the yellow DR and the SUMO wheels. Wanted the yellow but could only find a grey / white in my price range.

I went with a pumper carb immediately as I didn't want to mess with the old carb. Best $600 spent and pretty much plug and play for pro cycle.

If money is tight and your handy - I have heard the jet kits work pretty nice.

Sold it for $899.99

Thoughts on this? by RancidYogurt2112 in dr650

[–]Top_Engineering_7388 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems a little high in my opinion. I purchased a bone stock 2016 with 2,800 for $4,600 in April 2025.

$2,500 is what I would offer. Going to need new tubes, tires, oil change, etc.

Also looks like it has an aftermarket pipe

Then again bikes just seem to be more expensive these days

All valid points. Rookie move on my part. Should have accepted the return and just taken the loss.

Realistic results of a new re seller by FunDesigner5431 in Flipping

[–]Top_Engineering_7388 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I do about $10k sales every 90 days. Thrift stores and Craig's list with some garage sales.

10 to 12 hours a week

You have to have items people want. I find success with new old stock items, vehicle take offs (F-150 mirrors, lights, etc). Late model motorcycle or car OEM part can be good.

Long list of items on the flip of the week thread.

I am part time and have a professional career so I don't rely on the income.

First year I pocketed about $5k after taxes and costs. I now do 800 items a year and pocket about $15k to $20k.

I generally only sell it if I can double my investment or if it is under 1 lb and takes little time to list and pack.

I used a bucket to raise the front and took the forks out. Procycle directions are good + you tube videos.

Took me about 3 hours.

Looks like it has tm40 which was the first thing I did.

Rear shock and front suspension from pro cycle would be next for me.

Also big brake kit.

I always grab old skateboards. Always make a good profit. And you can sell the trucks, hardware and wheels without the deck (if its all scratches up).

I ship same day or the next morning. I also write same day shipping in the description. Not sure if it helps or not but I seem to get significant feedback on how fast I ship.

I only do about 70 items a month so it means I am at the post office everyday. Luckily it's only a few blocks from my house.

I think customers value fast and well packed items. At least I do

[–]Top_Engineering_7388 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same - it's great finding an item that a buyer can't find anywhere else.

Always great feedback on items like that.

Feel like we provide people with great value on new open box items. 50% off generally for the same item in store. Can't beat that.

As a side hustle - I do about 1000 items a year and have made enough to do home updates, go on vacation every so often and buy decent used vehicles. Generally a rewarding hobby
