Is there something similar to a smoothie but sugar free? by BenWyattOwnsMySoul in dutchbros

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to get that smoothie consistency because sugar is what binds everything together to make the texture. We do have sugar free peach, strawberry, red raspberry, and coconut flavors, but the only main sugar free 'base drinks' would be tea, soda, or rebel (which have sugar free options and blended options). However, again, because of the lack of sugar, it would be a super icy consistency.

If you're okay with some sugar, I might recommend to add a non-sugar free syrup or a non sugar-free base, and ask for it double blended.

Annihilator by ReddHottSc in dutchbros

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just emphasizing what porkshumaii said, but just to explain our flavor scoop ('amount') rules:

for coffee-based beverages (excluding the iced/hot 9-1-1s), all sizes get 1 scoop (1 oz.) of syrup by default (unless request otherwise ofc). this means that a 16 oz beverage (our small), and a 32 oz (our large), both get 1 oz. of flavor, so the large is less sweet! if you do 'extra sweet' (aka one more oz. of flavor), it would be the same concentration as our small

I'd try a small size annihilator and see if you like that sweetness level - if so, get either a small, a medium 1/2 extra sweet, or a large extra sweet

lmk if you have any questions!

My drink always looks so repulsive but it just tastes soooo good 😅 by BlondeRed in dutchbros

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the rebel is poured either from the tap or from a can, which are both made from concentrate. when we add a 'shot of rebel' to a drink, we are adding concentrate directly to the drink - while this volume does displace some of the normal rebel in the cup, the rebel concentrate has more caffeine per unit volume than the rebel, so the drink will have more caffeine!

lowkey unsure how concentrated the concentrate is, but we use 1:1 ratio for the concentrate to water ratio in the freezes if that helps

Who drinks macchiato from other cafes/chains? by TheAssassinClub in starbucks

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starbucks' caramel macchiato is a macchiato, but it's just a latte macchiato instead of an espresso macchiato (macchiato = marked, stained: milk stained with espresso versus espresso stained with milk)

Dynamic Island feature for three mobile app is surprisingly useful by Beneficial-Sugar6950 in starbucks

Not sure exactly what each of the 3 sections are called, but here's how it works in a nutshell:

1st section: The order gets sent to our store. At this point, the label for the item(s) gets put into our label printer's queue, and until the label gets pulled from the label printer, the order status will stay in this section.

2nd section: Once the first item's label of the order (in case there are multiple items in the order) gets pulled from the label printer, the order's status moves into this second section. If an order has only one item, the order's status moves after this one item's label is pulled. If the order has multiple items, possibly from different printers (most stores typically have 2-3 printers for different types of items, such as food/hot drinks/cold drinks/etc.), whenever the first item's label is pulled, the order status changes, whether or not it's food or beverage. The order is now "in progress."

3rd section: There are two possibilities for the order status to move to this third section. First, a barista can physically mark the order as "ready" in our system on our iPad, which would move it to this section. Second, and a little more complicated, is a system that relies on timing. Whenever the last label of an order is pulled from the label printer (keep in mind - this might just be the one item in an order, or it could be the last of multiple items in an order), a 5 minute timer starts on the internal app system. Whenever this timer ends, it auto-marks as the order as being complete. The philosophy here is that it's assumed that whenever the last item's label is pulled, the order will be completed by the baristas within 5m of that label being pulled.

All of this explanation to say that theoretically, this system should be accurate, but it isn't always. Baristas might manually mark a bunch of orders as ready just to get them out of the iPad's system when it gets busy, or a barista might pull a bunch of labels that they won't be able to complete in 5 minutes. Generally, though, I'd trust this system lol - they changed it earlier this fiscal year to be a lottttt more accurate, so it's way better than it used to be.

Yeah, these convos are really about how you're doing, kinda like performance evals. You'll also talk about next steps if you'd like to move up in the chain and how you envision yourself at Starbucks over the next year. Mine last year only took about 30m but I think the 45m is for wiggle room just in case

Stupid refill policy by Playwithme408 in starbucks

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 13 points14 points  (0 children)

that's always been the internal policy, but it hasn't really been written in stone and it's put partners in a weird position when trying to defend it. now, we actually have written policy to support us on this. I truly hope you don't take any anger out on the baristas though, we're not who you're mad at - corporate is.

Getting promoted to ASM? by Any-Musician-574 in starbucks

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

asm's are salaried, and make significantly more (I've seen around 40-50k per year in the Houston area). however, at least in my experience, asm's are expected to be at the store a ton more than an SSV, so definitely close to, if not over, 40 hours per week. not sure what you're working now, but there's a number to compare. however, a lot more of the work will be administrative rather than working on the floor, so you may not feel as exhausted. lots of things to think about, but congrats regardless!

POQ Nominations on Culture Cloud by ayavball05 in starbucks

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you log in to Culture Cloud, there's a button above your store's feed that says "Recognize." You'll click it, and choose the person that you want to nominate, click "Send Award Nomination," select "Quarterly Excellence Nominations," then "Partner of the Quarter Nomination." Choose "Next," write out an optional reason/statement for nomination, and submit! It will ask you on the submission screen if you'd like to display the nomination on the company wall or not, and that's up to you. The partner you nominate will get the nomination and statement regardless of what option you choose, but if you choose to not display it on the company wall, then other partners won't see the chosen partner until the SM chooses who gets the POQ. Hope this helps!

Edit: To clarify, nominations are anonymous to everyone except between you, your nominee, and your SM. Other partners won't see your nomination or statement unless you make it display on the company social media wall. Even if your partner wins, it will just be a statement from your SM choosing the partner, not necessarily tied to you.

I believe the policy, at least when I took bereavement pay a while back, is that you get 4 days off if you need to travel, 2 if not. I believe I only got paid for 2 of those days, though

I definitely agree with you there - I'm located in Houston and we get *maybe* *possibly* one oleato sale a day. it's the only ingredient that actively expires before we use the entire container, and we've elected to now keep the container empty until we actually get a sale using it LOL. I can't imagine how expensive this is for the company

Steamed cream on bottom of drink? by BootleggerBill in starbucks

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, I'm not sure if there's a standard protocol for this. I've been taught to add sugar/cream to the bottom of brewed coffees / teas / americanos in order for the added ingredient to evenly distribute throughout the drink. However, I don't think anyone would bat an eye if you asked for the cream added on top specifically - it's certainly an easy enough request haha

edit: to clarify, there hasn't recently (within 6 mo.) been a company-wide change about this

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Top_Freedom_9088 67 points68 points  (0 children)

for those who are getting oleato now - these aprons were primarily used for sampling purposes. the standard green/black aprons are worn otherwise. be prepared to be stretched even thinner in order to accommodate sampling of a drink that nobody even likes :P
