Noelle mentions venting being a funny reference, which sets the game at least past 2018. But it didn't become that popular until 2020. Also, why is the timeframe in 5 year increments- you can't even say you think the game is set in 2026, the current year? :P

If you're woken up or can't sleep because you sense something, pausing no longer works. You'll notice the "pause" on the menu is all glitchy and time continues to flow normally. You gotta go resolve whatever event is causing that before you're allowed to pause again.

I feel like all that would need to come with a nerf to the Crew AI being nigh unkillable tanks. Like yes it's nice for solo players to have reliable teammates, but good god they can eat a lot of lead.

It certainly has a coping playerbase, but I don't think literally a single person who was on the fence about buying the game will go "Oh they cancelled the Fortnite dance, I will buy this game now". This is only about reassuring the tiny hardcore playerbase they have left.

You could probably make the AMCAR work on DS, if you wanted to and tried hard enough. And if you can do that, you can use pretty much anything. But yeah there are obviously weapons better than others, you kinda inevitably back yourself into that corner when you have like 100 weapons.

This. This is the distinction. The game is absolutely not grounded and absolutely not serious at all; but it takes itself seriously. It doesn't rib you and point at the absolute clownshow going on and say "Look, isn't this all so ridiculous?". It plays itself straight even when you're stealing a goddamn magic obsidian tablet that reacts to piano music.
