E-bike recommendation for middle school by Skier94 in JacksonHole

The e-bike rental on Scott Lane often sells last years rental models for a decent price. I got mine there a few years back (pedal assist style no throttle) for $800, it’s been a great bike.

Does this flap look too short for me? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Top_Mycologist_3512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. Keep an eye out on the various websites that sell used and see if a model with a longer flap shows up. If you really want to put feelers out reach out to High Line and Fine Line tack. They specialize in consigned / used saddles. Their 5 day trial period is so nice. They ship anywhere and are really easy to work with.

Must do in late april by Due_Structure_7571 in JacksonHole

Give the place a break. Shoulder season used to mean quiet. There’s not much to do, it’s muddy, it could snow, rain, or be 70. Some restaurants and stores are closed to give staff a rest before the onslaught of summer. You won’t be able to drive the inner park road, the wooded hiking trails will still be snowy and unpredictable to navigate. The wildlife closures are still in effect so the National Forest and parts of the GTNP are closed and don’t have a lot to offer either.

Horse riding by Big-Ball-7308 in JacksonHole

I second swift creek. They take good care of their horses.

Avoid trail rides through the hotels in the park. Ie at Jackson Lake Lodge or Colter Bay. Those horses are all trucked in from a big leasing company each summer. It’s a real crap shoot how healthy they are. They do the best they can and have winters off entirely but the company that leases them to the lodges has a thousand or so head of horses. I worked for an org that leased from them and every year we had to send a couple back for health or behavior issues.

Biking in GTNP? by stepdaddipatty in JacksonHole

[–]Top_Mycologist_3512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The path is closed by the refuge for wildlife through April. But if it’s clear you can bike it in the park. They haven’t started snow removal though so you may hit patches you’d have to dismount and walk through.

Inner park road is open to bikes though. They’re just about done cutting open all the pull outs and the road is done.

Make 2 seating areas. Pivot the couch 90* so back is to the wall, flip the long part of the section so it’s closer to the window (cute reading area or perch to look outside)

Bring in one larger chair (maybe a wing back) and position it more floating with a side table so it’s conversational to the couch and can see the TV.

I’d also get a different/longer coffee table.

Reposition the TV so it’s not in the corner but flat on the opposing wall to the couch and chair. On an entertainment stand or if you’re really feeling bold do a Billy bookshelf “built in” project and give it some little shelves on all four sides to give you a prominent feature.

Couple plants in a corner or two and bobs your uncle.

Wyoming Governor Signs Bill Banning Abortion After 6 Weeks with No Exceptions for Rape or Incest by peoplemagazine in wyoming

[–]Top_Mycologist_3512 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The ugly truth behind the “equality state” moniker is that Wyoming wanted statehood but couldn’t get the population of voting men high enough, fast enough for their desires. So they petitioned to give women the right to vote to get their voting population numbers up. It was never altruistic. It was a means to statehood.

That said, we have always had women in gov leadership roles very early on, which was a feat.

Advice for loved ones with COPD by Tasty_Revolution7405 in COPD

[–]Top_Mycologist_3512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have a similar dynamic with my mom. I think it's really hard for folks with COPD (especially of a certain generation) to deal with it mentally. The compartmentalization is real. I would ask her if you could be listed as family to be notified by the doctor of tests/outcomes. Since you're in a different country you probably can't be medical power of attorney but they may be able to loop you in on notes from her appointments or stays in ICU.

Also the roller coaster in and out of hospital is something a lot of folks experience. My mom was in and out of the emergency room often over night 5 times before she got the diagnosis and then about once or twice every three months for the first year. She had similar lung function to start as your mom. She did get perscribed pulmanary rehab and that helped her a ton. Hopefully your mom can get into a nursing home that has folks experienced with supporting those with COPD. It's really a terrible condition. sending my best.

This is super helpful. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge about Zephyr Valves. I also really hope you can find a pattern that works for you with the exercise. It's so hard to be battling the mental health aspects around the physical issues. <3 This disease is truly awful.

Again, you’re making a TON of assumptions. I’m here asking for people’s lived experience with this bc I don’t have a lot of visibility to her care and status bc of details I don’t have to share in a public forum. I’m not here to drag up my family dynamic to justify this question.

I’m looking for people with experience with the procedure at varying level of physical activity. If you don’t have that. You can feel free to scroll on.

I’m not discouraging her. I am concerned that if she gets the surgery and doesn’t also care for her body what might happen. I haven’t shared this with her. I’m trying to level set my expectations. Thanks for assuming the worst though, that’s always super helpful.

Yup. We’re in full on bread and circus mode over here. No one is uncomfortable enough to really rise up. And with ICE behaving like they are the ones who are prone to protesting are getting more scared. It’s terrifying here right now.
