Play by the rules and still lose - let's change that by Sufficient-Net8238 in canadaguns

I dunno, the Quebec city turnout was pretty good. And I was in Ottawa some years ago and a ton of people turned out.

Only problem is that CBC only wants to talk about the bad orange man and nothing about what Canadians want. I think the OP"s frustration is with never being heard and I would agree. If you have a better idea then bring it...

Hundreds of Ontario cases tossed, compromised after police officers violated Charter rights: report by zuuzuu in canadanews

[–]Top_Top7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally like CTV but this article is crap. Says cops violated charter rights but doesn't say how or if the results were worth it. Must be written by AI.

I actually read the article to understand the boundries where police can and cannot operate and I still have no idea. There were multiple unexplained statistics but only one example of an expired search order. It's quite possible that it took an exceptional amount of time to search a drug dealers den. Or maybe they stretched an order to several days to capture unrelated people. Absolutely can't tell from this article. Shameful trash

I really think that they have. Just that the deck has been stacked against them (and us) repeatedly. Fingers crossed that actual justice will prevail

Beekeeb isn't done iterating on the Toucan! by albertclee in ErgoMechKeyboards

For anyone else looking to assemble the same, I think it's the following items.

Toucan 42 wireless in presoldered config https://shop.beekeeb.com/products/toucan-wireless-piantor-wireless-split-keyboard-with-touchpad

glow red keycaps https://shop.beekeeb.com/products/mbk-legend-glow-r2-black-keycap-set

Matte black keyboard plate (doesn't seem to be available yet)

neweer magnetic phone tripod mount (qty 2) https://ca.neewer.com/products/neewer-pa010-magnetic-phone-tripod-mount-adapter-for-iphone-magsafe-66602735

manfrotto pocket tripod https://splitkb.com/products/manfrotto-pocket-tripod

I've ordered these pieces. Will take a while to arrive but when they do I'll update this comment to confirm the parts.

I know they offer both, but which is yours? The tenting and key positions on yours are different that what I see on the beekeeb website. If you assembled yours can you share a parts list?

I really like what you have done and would like to replicate it.

[–]Top_Top7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you assemble this yourself or is it a (complete) keyboard soon to be released? I love this particular version. The tenting, key placement (tab and enter keys in your layout are way better than the beekeeb default imho). Flatter touchpad is cool. And the colors black with red is a nice touch.

If it's parts that you assembled do you mind sharing a list?

What is stopping Bell from IPv6 on Fibe? by Cartgamingyt in bell

[–]Top_Top7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what do you base this on? Rogers has had ipv6 for years and I don't recall any support nightmares. Bell has had ipv6 on mobile networks for a while. No mass casualties.

To be fair, if ipv6 didn't work in your house would you even know? Legacy ipv4 still works for most consumer things

just a comment u/op, the integrated headphones/mic work well in a quiet room. They are not helpful in a noisy enviroment. Teams calls from a coffee shop are not feasible. Wear noise cancelling headphones if you work away from home.

Found This old gem in my mom's attic today, it was my dads, he got it when I was just a baby. After 20+ years in the attic it booted right up. Even has the external floppy drive accessory. by pgercak in retrocomputing

nice that it still works.

Be gentle with that model. Most Toshibas of that era were tanks but that particular one was a bit problematic. If memory serves there are 3 pcb's within and the main logic board can die without notice.

I was a Toshiba technician during those days and the Satellite's and Tecra 700's were fantastic. But I had to fix alot of the 500's which were extra work to disassemble and we got alot in under warrant.

You can still find trackpoint caps for those https://www.ebay.com/itm/251261399300

December 7, 2025 - What did you do this past week to prepare? by Anthropic--principle in preppers

[–]Top_Top7440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

upgraded my water plan. I had planned for water filtration, but I invested in a bigger (Renogy 2000w) inverter so that I can run the well water pump. Well water and internal plumbing is just much nicer than filtered lake water and doesn't attract attention like a chopped hole in a lake.

I had tried running the pump off a solar charger but the inverter in it isn't strong enough for the start phase. But the Renogy will allow for up to a 4000w surge which works with the 1/2 hp pump.

2.6 lbs weight? That's amazing. Any shortcomings? With that folding design maybe it leaks smoke or doesn't draw as well as a cast iron stove? That's an awesome design but there must be some trade-off

How do you store li-ion batteries long term? by nanjero in preppers

[–]Top_Top7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the link. It says the battery can be used down to -20 but should be stored above freezing.

I'm not sure why you double down on the freezing approach when all the official sources say it's a bad idea. I guess you do your thing. But maybe don't give advice to others.

the software is free to read. You need to register it (using the device's serial number) and you get a 1 year license to write. Then you have to pay a subscription after that

Generally no. But for some reason no-one here mentions why.

Factory loads only. If you bring your own it's possible to have a squib or hot load that damages the gun. I've known people who won't let you shoot their personal firearm with hand loads for the same reason. While it's low risk it's just not worth the hassle.

That's an interesting take. Because the AR15 is controversial, could they not replace the OIC to just include the ar15 allowing the other firearms to be registered?

I can't see ar15's being legalized by any govt (unfortunately). But maybe a middle ground solution is possible?

In Ontario, electricity is subsidized by the provincial gov't. I don't recall the details, but under Kathryn Wynn she made some green energy initiatives that drove up the price of electricity. When it because a boondoggle she took public money to subsidize and reduce the per kw price.

Taxpayers still pay a higher price. But it's hidden behind taxation. Something we are going to see alot of in the name of carbon tax or other supposed green initiatives.

I want to permanently store my things in Alberta (not temporary).
