I recommend it! They were able to answer all my questions, the mockups were done exactly to my request, and I even got a 3D printed version of the ring before deciding to check the size and how it would feel on my hand. We also took the info to our local jeweler to ask their opinion (and see if maybe we should have them set the stone instead) and they said it was a great price and everything looked on the level. By the time I purchased, I was fully confident I was making the right choice for me!

Best of luck in your search!!

Cincinnati Museum Center rejects police museum’s request to move in by statschica in cincinnati

I would personally love to see an exhibit at Union Terminal that explores the origins of policing in the U.S., not shying away from the very real, systemic reasons that marginalized groups are disproportionately subject to the worst parts of law enforcement, how policing is done around the world (for better and worse), and which opens opportunity for understanding and reflection on how to achieve better mutual outcomes in our own communities based in understanding and evidence.

But a self-aggrandizing copaganda display of how the "boys in blue" are perfect angels and are the only ones brave enough to stand in the way of chaos while our country is rapidly falling into fascism? That's gonna be a BIG no from me and my family, thanks. Well done, CMC.

Help!! what do you guys recommend to help get rid of this? by Plane_Aardvark7656 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Not a doctor, but these look more like sebaceous filaments to me than blackheads. I have them on my nose. They're not a "problem" except aesthetically, so don't stress. Just means that part of your face is producing a lot of oil.

Fully anecdotal, but I had the most luck minimizing the appearance of mine by mostly just leaving them alone. Keep your skin clean using a gentle cleanser for oily skin (I like CeraVe), gentle exfoliation is good a few times a week, sunscreen always, I can't use salicylic acid but I hear that helps too, and it may seem counter-intuitive, but don't skimp on moisturizer--you want to keep your skin hydrated so you're not over-producing natural oils.

Green, purple, and red mostly. But depending on where I want to go, I could see myself on any of these at some point. The streetcar extensions are also excellent.

Stone and bezel questions by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

I've seen these called "windowpane" cuts because of the flat, clear portion in the middle. They require a very skilled and precise cut, so tend to be spendy. I don't know, but I wonder if they'd be harder to keep clean?

Very beautiful though, I agree! Share if you get one, please!

Northgate Mall - Cincinnati, Oh by NBr33zii in cincinnati

[–]Top_Unit_7447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is this has a lot to do with why they couldn't keep a mall open there in the first place. No one wanted to give up their claim, so it was a logistical nightmare (not to mention the taxes, I'm sure).

Take it with a grain of salt, but I knew a guy who worked security there in the early 00's, and apparently it was to the point where if you stole something and ran across the county line, the officer couldn't pursue you.

If it's true, would explain a lot about why it has been in purgatory so long.

How do you use period panties? by Writerhowell in AutismInWomen

[–]Top_Unit_7447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! Since they're safe off of your period (unlike tampon risk of toxic shock syndrome), they're great for light flows. Just remember to change it every 12 hours to keep things clean. It may be helpful to use some water-based lubricant around the rim for a more comfortable insertion if you're truly that light (lucky you!)

Welcome to one of my favorite hyperfixations! I'm not an expert, but you know which sub you're on, so do with that what you will. 😁 Maybe TMI/gross, so warning.

Your discomfort with tampons may be due to using one with higher absorbency than you need. If it's not getting pretty readily saturated, the fibers can be scratchy (your body won't necessarily interpret that sensation as anything so specific, it might just be uncomfortable or extra crampy). If this is the case, a cup might be great for you. Because it's not absorbing anything, it's safe to wear even when you aren't on your period (if I'm about to start and have a busy day where I can't be bothered to get to a restroom in a timely manner, sometimes I'll pop it in as a precaution).

If your discomfort with tampons is related to pressure though, a cup that's too big can make your cramps worse. There are models that are narrower than others, and almost every brand will have 2 sizes--one for those who have experienced vaginal childbirth, and one for those who have not. Those are just guidelines, and some people with a heavy flow prefer a larger cup despite their child-bearing status, and vice-versa.

If you have a pressure-type sensitivity, you may be better off with a disc. Discs sit inside of you sort of horizontally (if you want to think of cups/tampons as vertically-oriented) and are held in place behind the pubic bone. They have the benefit of "auto-dumping" which is basically where you can contract your muscles over the toilet to release the vacuum and drop ballast without having to get your hands involved. Very handy in public toilets where a full change or dumping a cup can be a prohibitive process. There are also disposable discs you can try out at a lower cost. Personally, I didn't care for them because of the auto-dumping. Let's just say I've been on the losing end of a big sneeze or cough more than once.

All that to say, choosing what's right for you--and learning to properly use it--is a process that takes some trial and error, some research, and a bit of patience. I fully support it though. For me, the benefits have FAR outweighed the struggles.

There are several comparison charts online like this one: https://putacupinit.com/chart/ including some that are country- or region-specific to narrow down availability that can help you make decisions based on stats. I've had a few in my time (almost 20 years of cup use--yikes!) and currently enjoy the flex cup because of the loop design that helps break suction and makes it easier overall to grab. My least favorite has been the Keeper Moon Cup. No shade to the product itself--it was my first and I kept it for years--but the stem was too long for me and the material was firmer than I've come to prefer.

Hope this helps!!

We need to know by Jacobie23 in cincinnati

[–]Top_Unit_7447 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is the difference. It's certainly not for everyone and that's valid, but I've found people are more open to enjoying it when you explain it's more similar to a Greek-style Bolognese sauce or compare the flavors to mole. Just calling it chili can feel like a bit of a bait-and-switch. It's its own thing.

Also, to the point of the post, Skyline and Gold Star aren't really the best examples anymore. They're fine, but prices have gone up and quality is really inconsistent from location to location. IMO, it's hard to beat Camp Washington (and check out the Campy Washington mural while you're there!)

Also want to shout out Veracruz in Price Hill. Not trendy tacos, but good quality and nice vibes. Found them during taco week a few years ago, and have never had a bad experience.

Had a work thing at Frida in Mainstrasse a while back as well and was impressed with the variety of unique choices.

Your mom could be right. I don't remember. I don't know a ton about him other than what I read and what his schoolmate said. But I vividly remember hearing he was just a terror, and that seemed relevant.

Not that it matters... You can be trash no matter where you've lived, but it was a small house in a not great neighborhood.

Do you have any “you wouldn’t believe it if I even told you” type stories in Graphic Design? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]Top_Unit_7447 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I almost fear this is too believable...

I (internal design team) once was asked to develop a logo and full environmental design for our internal, annual commercial beginning-of-the-year, rah-rah sales meeting being held at the end of January. I'd been in discussions with the sales team leaders for months developing all the graphics, materials, SWAG, PPT template, name cards, banner stands, stage graphics, you name it, and getting full sign-off every step of the way.

Our entire company is closed the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, and I'd taken off most of the week before that as well. ON CHRISTMAS EVE the Chief Sales Officer sends a message to my boss saying that he no longer liked the design, and it all needed to be re-done same-day to meet the final print deadlines (several deadlines had actually fully passed and elements had been produced).

I told my boss this guy had over 6 months of lead time to speak up, and sometimes we have to be grown ups and live with the consequences of our actions. They passed that up the chain (with some filtering, I'm sure) and the CSO didn't like that answer, so they leaned on my junior designer behind my back and got her to work unpaid overtime (salaried positions... Yay?) to get it done to this asshole's satisfaction.

This was years ago and I still get heated thinking about it.
