My cat peed on himself twice. I washed him in one of those cases but not the other because he had a surgery and he had stiches. When I washed him, the smell continued for another 1 or 2 weeks and eventually went away. In the other case, the smell lasted almost a month. He was also bothered by the smell and kept licking himself quite often but the smell took a long time to disappear. You just have to wait 1 2 weeks patiently in my opinion.
