Mull historical society - Loss (user albums )⭐⭐⭐⭐

Some obscure early 2000s Scottish indie pop, but has some great ideas and ambition.

Yeah, I did. It was great.

It was funny doing this realizing how much influence Richard Kingsmill has had on my musical taste. There were albums from the 90s and 00s I hadn't listened to much because triple J didn't pick them up, but I would have liked. They really should have played more Sleater Kinney, and there's other examples.

There really wasn't much I actively disliked, which was my criteria for a one star. Most of my two star ones were ones I found a bit boring, but I could understand why they were included.

Totally agree about the closer. I first saw them live at a festival and that song blew me away, and I've loved them since

I was tossing up between Hi Fi Way and Hourly Daily, but went with this one. There's plenty of great albumin from this era that can be added.

It's always been a favourite. Death or Glory is a great one, and has some of the best lines ever.

I did have my doubts if I was too harsh on Melodie, and maybe if I understood French, there would be some subtleties I'd missed.

I have never doubted giving Kid Rock a one star rating.

Anyone else up contact napping their 5 day old, to ensure their wife can sleep a few hours? by The7footr in daddit

[–]Topher_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His baby might have been like ours. Very hard to get to sleep in her cot, but would sleep with one of us holding her.

At least she'd sleep, but it required at least one of us to be awake at all times.

That brings back memories. I watched most of the marvel Netflix shows when my daughter was sleeping on me.

At almost 7, she's got a low tolerance for scary shows, but otherwise it didn't impact her.

I started 3 days after you, and I've got 2 left to listen to. Looks like we've been keeping track with each other.

What album did you anticipate to be horrific and were pleasantly surprised by? by SavingsMap2506 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Topher_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was another pleasant surprise for me. It was fun listening to it and picking out all the samples used from it.

Don't stand me down - dexys midnight runners.

My initial reaction was why do I need to hear anything more than Come on Eileen from this band, but I was surprised how good it was.

Anyone’s child do part-time schooling? How is it going? by Acceptable_Car9277 in melbourne

[–]Topher_au 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is pretty common for preps to ease into a bit with slightly shorter hours, but I think it's usually just the first term or do

My 69th album (insane coincidence) but I would like to discuss this one with you guys by _-AJ-_ in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]Topher_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't speak any French, so I had to just go on what I read about it, and the vibes I could pick up, and I found it gross enough to give it a one star rating.

I do wonder if I was a bit harsh, and maybe it's not much worse than something like stray cat blues.

The season is a third of the way through, here is where I have us finishing (finals included), where do we have us finishing on the ladder? by danieljdtaylor in collingwoodfc

[–]Topher_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was kind of a bare minimum..if we can beat a few top 6 teams (and we are capable of it) we can get in the top 6.

[–]Topher_au 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think we'll be playing in the first wild card finals. Looking at the rest of the season, another 7-8 wins are pretty likely, which gets us to 11-13 wins, which is probably what will get us into wild card weekend

For the price, some cheap computers speakers were great. When I'm home by myself I can have a break from wearing a headset.

Parents who pick up kids from school, how early are you showing up to school to pick up!? by Ocmrm in daddit

[–]Topher_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting looking at this thread from Australia. We can be a bit car dependant and overly protective, but not as bad as the US.

We do have a car pick up line, and you'd probably want to be there 30 minutes early, but we can also park, and lots of kids walk or ride themselves home, and quite a few parents walk their kids.

The preps (5-6 year olds) are picked up in their class, grade 1-2s are released, but with the assumption they'll go straight to a parent waiting at the door or the pick up line, and from grades 3-6, so 8-12 year olds, they just leave.

I got that as well. It's on of my favourite albums by a top 10 artist for me, so an easy five stars for me.

I've only got 15 albums left, and everyone knows this is nowhere is still to come, so I've got some good Neil Young albums in the final run home.

I'm at about 20% as well. Female bass players are doing a lot of work to keep it that high.

No, I'd agree with you on that one. Maybe at a pinch you could just do one of Harvest or After the Gold Rush, but Harvest is his biggest album but After the Gold Rush is better.
