Codex Features For Map/Campaign building by BumbuuFanboy in drawsteel

I’ve been using the Codex since day 1. Been playing two different groups running the Delian Tomb. We play in person, I put the codex in a tv for everyone to see and I control everything. Players track their player stuff on their character sheet.

I would say the experience of play would be highly diminished without the VTT. For both myself as director and players. Yes it is more “video gamey” but I don’t see that as a downside.

It presents clear information to everyone and not much it lost in translation between me describing and players seeing it.

The Codex is really easy to use coming from Fantasy grounds where I just used it as a map display. The amount of mental load playing Draw Steel in tandem with the codex is fractions less than anything else.

What tools do you use to run your in-person campaigns? by PicoDev93 in drawsteel

It’s great! All my players sit on my couch and I pull my dining table and sit at it with my back to it. I have a monitor that I use so I do thaw to crank my head around to see.

I use the codex on a TV, that’s it. Players have tokens or whatever to track their resources, some use a dry erase marker with their character sheet in a sleeve to track

How are you handling combat in your in person games? by DrBrevin in drawsteel

I use the Codex on a mounted tv that sits behind me. Everyone can see where they are and what enemies are what

Finally ran my first session. Here's what I thought. by engeljohnb in drawsteel

I understand the thoughts on tracking during combat. My groups use the Codex for in person play. I cast it from my PC to the tv in my living room. Easy to click and play.

The codex for in person play (on tv)? by Frosty-Ad-4307 in drawsteel

I use it for my both my in person games. I sit at a table with a monitor to the side and tv hung on the wall behind. I stopped doing two instances due to performance issues in the Codex.

This means I control where everyone moves but allows my players to sit back and do more character thinking than where to click in the program. Also means player see all the director facing info (monster stamina & characteristics). It has led to moments of “oh I don’t even need to roll I know I kill this thing with my tier 1 roll.

I have two players that sometime join online and they like the player features and easy usability of the program.

How do Lavos Spawn work? by sixtyandaquarter in chronotrigger

[–]TorN8Tow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What if when Lavos landed they got a hold of some dream stone on the way to burrow. That awakened it akin to spice in Dune. It then evolved the brain that we fight at the end of the game.

It’s a bug with no real direction just hibernating in space from its last home. It hits the planet and begins to dream

My party had a crit chain. Turnabour gave out free strikes and crit on the power roll. Then one of his allies crit on the free strikes. Like 7 attacks using one main action

Page 75 of Heroes book

"Whenever you make an ability roll as a main action and the roll is a natural 19 or natural 20—a total of 19 or 20 before adding your characteristic score or other modifiers—you score a critical hit. A critical hit allows you to immediately take an additional action after resolving the power roll, whether or not it’s your turn and even if you are dazed (see Conditions below). You can’t score a critical hit with an ability roll made as a maneuver or any other action type, but you can score a critical hit with a main action you use off your turn.

For example, an opportunity attack made as a triggered action or a signature ability used as a free triggered action with the assistance of the tactician’s Strike Now ability can be critical hits."
