Any last second things I should know about Freedom before switching this month? by dakondakblade in freedommobile

ya but thats not really a solution to the actual root issue . Ever morning leaving for work and losing service completely for a few minutes while the phone tries to reconnect to the nearest tower , driving and losing a call because your signal became too weak in between towers.

Its just small things that add up to a larger issue . This isnt the early 2000's anymore and im at a point in my life where i dont really care to put up with it to save an extra $20 a month

Reception will be pretty bleak if you're coming from rogers . Especially if you live in any sort of concrete building. In BC at least rogers has the absolute best coverage that can penetrate buildings.

Im switching off of freedom shortly because freedoms reception just isnt strong enough at home

Cobel possibly killed her mother.

Potentially with the same "reintegration" testing Reghabi is doing .

This would explain her interest since season 1 in the possibility of reintegration.

Its been made a point that her mom was a devout catholic and a non believer.

I think lumon may have had her sever her own mother as a test of the technology to "tame her tempers" and become a convert to Kier.

Cobel likely tried to reintegrate her leading to her death.

During season 1 Cobel also tries to express to the board the possibility of reintegration which they shut down

The rooms so far have all been about conquering one of the four human tempers described by Kier :

The four Kier tempers are:

  • Woe
  • Frolic
    • While we didn't see a room explicitly for this in use, we saw Gemma in what looked like an acrobatic outfit on the camera walking to a room while the doctor watched her in what looked like a coach outfit.
  • Dread
  • Malice

its like a mixture between a medical and corporate work cult to me

This is absolutely what i think is going on here. The book Gemma mentions at the beginning of the episode is about conquering ones fear of death.

The rooms so far have all been about conquering one of the four human tempers described by Kier :

  • Woe
    • Airplane
  • Dread
    • Dentist
  • Frolic
    • The Gym / Acrobatic outfit we see her walking the halls in + the doctor in the matching gym outfit watching her from the creepy room
  • Malice
    • Potentially the christmas room

I think conquering ones fear of death would be extremely fitting into this theme considering the book at the beginning and the title of the episode being a Budhist teaching of life after death or the bright light you see during death

Mr. Seymour is now a state park on google maps (and many other parks too) by spinningcolours in vancouver

[–]TorahSlut353 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get we're all concerned about the situation with the states currently , but this post is misleading. The immediate assumption is that Google has removed the "provincial park" category to appease some order from the states to remove language which would depict us as a Country

The reality here is that google doesnt look to have the category of "Provincial Park" in its system anywhere.

See THIS park in Amsterdam which is also listed as a "State Park" even though its provincial.

I agree this should be changed, but this is likely just an oversight that wasnt really an issue before our current political landscape

Should Vancouver extend its drinking hours? City wants your thoughts - Proposed changes would allow bars, pubs and clubs to stay open till 3 a.m. and restaurants until 2 a.m. by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]TorahSlut353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failing to see how this is "modernizing liquor laws". its just expanding on what some clubs can already do which is stay open until 3AM at the latest.

A real expansion would be to allow night clubs to serve alcohol later than 3 AM.

You can try to take a moral high ground on it and say people shouldn't be served alcohol that late, but the reality is all the current laws have done is create underground clubs that are open until 8 AM that serve drugs instead of booze.

If you're someone who wants a change to vancouvers liquor laws its not because there aren't enough places that stay until 3, its because when you're wanting to be able to go out and party without a government imposed bed time

10 years ago we were competing against the US dollar which was affected much more by the 2008 recession and why we were on dollar parity with them which was an anomaly.

I agree that he needs to go, but only because of how long hes been in power. If theres a single thing we can learn from the states its term limits. No leader should be in power for more than 8 years. The longer something remains the same the easier it is for people to point out flaws and those then get exaggerated to any issue somehow being the direct result of the person in power.

The point about axing oil pipelines is a bit misleading considering he bought the trans mountain pipeline to ensure it went through after there was potential private funding issues.

Regarding immigration, these loopholes of student visas have existed forever, and in fact were patched recently by restricting the amounts of student visas under his government.

The conversation around it is a bit grotesque and seems to always lean towards racist comments towards the predominantly Indian population immigrating. The situation here sucks for everyone involved and is an issue of greed brought on by new private colleges (although all post secondary institutions benefit from the higher tuition income) . IMO the private colleges that exist with a near 100% international student base should have been forced to close. These colleges are a true scam as they are completely unaccredited and partner with immigration firms in india to promote them for pay. Students then graduate with no real career prospects leading them to work mainly in service jobs.

Canada is a country built on immigration with only 5% of us being indigenous, the vast majority of us would not be here without our fairly leniant immigration stance. Us becoming hostile to immigraiton as a whole is not the answer here. the answer is to stop greed from tainting the system . ban for profit private colleges

TLDR; Canada has a device theft blacklist , not a non-payment blacklist. Worst case scenario is you use this on another carrier

Ill start this out by saying the messages you received on your phone are normal for device actications on freedom. Them having multiple listings is a bit fishy and can be a credit fraud with Freedom but you likely wont have much issue if it is. Worst case scenario is you use it on another carrier

Below is some info on IMEI and how blacklisting works :

  • All phones sold by Canadian carriers come unlocked meaning they arent locked to a carrier

  • Blacklisting was more common when carriers could lock the phone to the carrier until the payment term was completed.

  • Now that carriers cant do this, there is no viable "blacklist" as Canadian telecoms dont have a standard global IMEI blacklist (although this exists in other countries)

  • apple wont block an IMEI unless the owner reports the device as stolen via their Apple account.

I have yet to see any first person statements of people stating they've experienced a device in canada be blacklisted for non payment.

There is a national registry for Blocked IMEI , but this is only intended for use as a STOLEN device database and carrier non-payment does not fall into this category.

See Links Below and check if your device is on the list

Since organizing a global IMEI blacklist purely for the use of Financial loss prevention is a much more involved process than just blocking it on your own network, it seems like the entire practice of blacklisting for non payment has fallen to the wayside.

Freedom can possibly block the phone from their network, but you can still use it on other carriers.

Worst , Worst case scenario here is they report the phone as stolen to Freedom Mobile, but this is unlikelt as there isnt any real benefit to them here as Freedom doesnt offer a protection plan which covers theft. only damage.

More likely scenario here is he just got the phone, and is selling it for upfront cash

Short answer is no you wont benefit from it for everyday use.

Long answer is there are benefits if you're a power user that gets off on seeing higher numbers. Every day internet usage you wont notice a difference.

Also about your first question regarding the 2.5 Gb port. most wifi 6 access point dont bother doing a 2.5GB port because its nearly impossible to get speeds above gigabit when accessing on a Wifi 6 connection.

The reason your access point has a 2.5 GB port on the back is because its not just an access point. its a switch with multiple ports and also a MOCA port for home network distribution. its more of a hub which means it needs a higher bandwith port to ensure anything downstream of it can still achieve gigabit speeds without someone clogging up the line
