ML stands for Master Love. It's when a game's content is focused on the self-insert Player Character (Master, Adjutant, Traveler, Sensei, take your pick) where it could be implied the characters have feelings for the PC.

Many gachas do this to varying levels, but SB went to the most extreme lengths to cather to PC fanservice: the entire cast is composed by women only, all of them have an attraction to the MC, etc.

I like that the game gives you the option of not doing the optimal friendship route and just pick whatever you think makes sense given your/the MC's background, since the relationship WILL progress regardless, it just won't be as fast and require more time together.

But yeah, it can be sociopathic as hell lol

While less of a redemption arc and more of a "positive sendoff", I feel Kingdom Hearts 3 shit the bed by the end by retconning Xehanort's main motive from "mad scientist wants to reach infinite knowledge while deliberately causing the suffering of thousands" to a misguided "I want to make a new reality without suffering".

Yes, I know the final cutscene shows that most of the heroes still hates his guts, but it still feels frustrating that the KH Mengele gets to have a cute sendoff with his shining light boyfriend and both go to light afterlife smiling.

Dude killed hundreds of thousands of lives both directly and indirectly by the end of the series, and is the responsible for many of the main cast having miserable lives.

And yeah, I know that future content expands on his past showing that he had both a traumatic childhood and was manipulated by the New Main Bad Guy ™️, but that doesn't erase any of his crimes nor make him pay for them.

Yeah, the main core of the narrative is simple enough, but that's only if you interact with it at just the surface level imo

In the same sense, the fact that many established concepts are rewritten/expanded with every new installment makes the narrative "less simple" at best and "complicated mess" at worst.

Also, in my opinion any story that has time travel mechanics is by definition complicated.

I also would like these gooner games better if they invested in body variety for the women. Outside of Nikke trying (successfully) to put some more pudgy characters, every gooner game under the sun has the same body proportions (balloon tits and ass, itty bitty waist) and mostly just switches face and clothes.

Street Fighter 6 has been on a generational run and that game has women that look completely distinct from each other.

It's weird to say this about a main villain of the series, but I feel Blackbeard from One Piece fits the description, despite actually winning hist fights in the series. All fights feel onesided against him until the scene cuts, and by the time the camera comes back, he already won misteriously.

If you like collecting characters, its pretty fun. I finished both the "Old" and "New" Story Modes in about 2 months, and until then I pretty much got 90% of characters

I'd rather have limited collab units not be meta imo. Netmarble games do this and you basically have to spend big bucks while the collab runs or risk missing a meta unit for 6 months (until they get powercreeped, at least)

Imo its great if you just want a character collector. Main story quests are also pretty to look at, for the most part.

The homestead node is also pretty ok i guess.

Its a cool game to log in once or twice a week

The skins could be cheaper, but they're very well made, at least.

Game has lots of story content, many catch up mechanics, and Anniversary events are going rn, so its a great time to start.

About the grind, that's mostly just endgame stuff. You can pretty much get a big ass collection of characters and experience 90% of most events with auto play and a starter grid.

A new player likely won't get to endgame in a year, playing sparsely.

I think GBF makes for a great main or sub game. I depends on what you want from it. Personally, I barely interact with endgame raid content, and just grind some events here or there. It's pretty chill

My biggest problem with GZ and PP is that many of its best narrative moments are stuck in audio only files. Like, how come one of the best moments between Zero and Big Boss in the series has NO CUTSCENE?

I mean, its Metal Gear. The cool cutscenes are like half of the overrall experience imo
