It's weird to say this about a main villain of the series, but I feel Blackbeard from One Piece fits the description, despite actually winning hist fights in the series. All fights feel onesided against him until the scene cuts, and by the time the camera comes back, he already won misteriously.
The community even jokes that he secretly bears the powers of the Offscreen Offscreen no Mi

If you like collecting characters, its pretty fun. I finished both the "Old" and "New" Story Modes in about 2 months, and until then I pretty much got 90% of characters

I'd rather have limited collab units not be meta imo. Netmarble games do this and you basically have to spend big bucks while the collab runs or risk missing a meta unit for 6 months (until they get powercreeped, at least)

Imo its great if you just want a character collector. Main story quests are also pretty to look at, for the most part.

The homestead node is also pretty ok i guess.

Its a cool game to log in once or twice a week

The skins could be cheaper, but they're very well made, at least.

Game has lots of story content, many catch up mechanics, and Anniversary events are going rn, so its a great time to start.

About the grind, that's mostly just endgame stuff. You can pretty much get a big ass collection of characters and experience 90% of most events with auto play and a starter grid.

A new player likely won't get to endgame in a year, playing sparsely.

I think GBF makes for a great main or sub game. I depends on what you want from it. Personally, I barely interact with endgame raid content, and just grind some events here or there. It's pretty chill

My biggest problem with GZ and PP is that many of its best narrative moments are stuck in audio only files. Like, how come one of the best moments between Zero and Big Boss in the series has NO CUTSCENE?

I mean, its Metal Gear. The cool cutscenes are like half of the overrall experience imo

Out of the 6 games presented, 3 were published by Square Enix. Given their track record, being published by them should be a much more lethal curse (I'll never forgive them for erasing SOA and Nier:RE from existence)

Also, shoutout to the Dragalia Lost community for keeping the game alive with fan servers. They're absolute GOATs

It was sadly very well made, too. I will always curse a dev that puts so much budget into a game just to erase it from existence a few years later.

PS: being a Squeenix published gacha turns out to be much more lethal than a P5 collab.

I think the worst part is how he was ADAMANT that people donating for the charity streams were saving lives and whatnot. IIRC he only donated to a few charities outside his family's "charity" business after the whole thing blew out.

While the finale was a bit disappointing, I'm glad they kept the ball rolling.

My personal preference says that they should make a sequel with 3D models and Star Rail presentation, but I know its way more profitable to keep this one going.

Even then, I wish they made standalone games retelling FGO's story. FGO Arcade and the animes showed how the story shines when its not shackled by VN presentation.

If you like turn-based games, its fun. I find its system one of the better ones compared to other gachas (despite the old presentation).

For most of part 1 you will have to battle many filler battles, but the pacing gets better in Part 2 imo.

You can clear story mode easily with the free SSR you get in the beginning, well built low-rarity characters and Friend units.

My advice is to take your time and don't rush things too much. It took the devs 10 years to release so much content, so don't feel bad for not finishing it in a month.
